Ha ha, Im not saying they arent around at all! Im just saying remove all logos from all three cars and ask the general American to name the three of them and 70% could probably get the 'Vette and less then 10% would get the other two. Just my opinion. And Im talking amongst the general American population. Not the car enthusiasts.

Oh no, I got what you were saying bud. I just wanted to take shots at yah!

But you are definitely right. That is why I think if Door Stop Wedge bodies is what companies are going to aim at, let's take out the real car company names and call them something else. I personally like the "Parma Door Stop Series 1" or the "Protoform Wedge Blob-9R" or something like that. Then, I guess it won't be so bad. The whole psychological thing will kick in and people will not feel as sour. But if tire diameters change to be more realstic to their 1:1 counterparts, oh you betcha I will go into mode.

Look at VTA. There is a guy at our track that is running low 11s with a Camaro body. The body is "realistic" enough to recognize it is a Camaro. Yet he tuned his car to handle at high speeds and turn lower numbers. I am pretty sure the same can be done with pan cars.
The difference is that pan cars are much more dependant on aerodynamics for handling then TCs are. Don't get me wrong...it does make a difference in TCs as well...but not to the degree it does for pan cars.

Then Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche, Lola VDS coupe, Koeniggsegg, Mercedes CLK GTR, Saleen S7R, Honda NSX, Pagani Zonda F, and a slew of others that have low noses should work fine and maintain realism. Plus have decent performance.

All good suggestions, but they do not fit the front engine 2door rule. We do allow them at our track though.

They might...aerodynamics goes much beyond just having a low nose. But like JCarr said they are not legal bodies according to the WGT rules set. For my local race they will be.

I can stick a tamiya ford escort cosworth body (stupidly boxy) on the chassis and still keep up with the 'high handling' bodies.

I can also put on the HPI Mazda RX8 and keep up with the brushless guys who also run the 'high handling' bodies.

Personally speaking, if you're looking at the body to give you extra handling... maybe you should have a closer look at your chassis setup.

Well i don't know about where you race but on the asphault surface we run on to get a body like that to work you would have to run super soft tires to keep the back planted and have incredible amounts of tire wear...and that's if you could even get enough grip out of the tires to be competitive. Neither do I know who you are or who you run with to know if the level of competition is high enough for it to make a difference. It could be that you are just that much better of a driver then they are.

i could be mistaken, but even with the current "small" wheels, some cars are having problems getting a low enough ride height. bigger wheels will only make this harder right? we'd completely need to redo the front ends or shim them to the moon... for me it's work first, look good second.. that said, i like most of the gt bodies and own a sophia.. i guess most of the people not worried about the handling affects of scale bodies are running on carpet where traction is not an issue.. i play on asphalt and even my wide lmp occasionally wants for more grip.. i simply can't imagine less grip being being too much fun.. nobody likes donuts...

i really don't see what all the fuss is about. rc racing IS REAL RACING. it does not have to imitate some other form of racing to be legitimate. if scale bodies are important to you, there are plenty of classes available, including Vintage trans am, and even drifting! however, i have never seen an RC race that looked realistic after the start of the race. go on you tube, and look at footage of any RC race, and there is no doubt that it is not full scale. the cars ore way too fast, and thay are bouncing off the walls! personally, i like the "racy" look of the current cars, and i hope that they make a bunch more door stops for variety. the "door stop" cars look really good, and so what if they aren't "realistic"? they don't have to look like real race cars, because THEY ARE REAL RACE CARS!!
there is even someone dissing the paint jobs, saying that they should all be painted to resemble a full scale counterpart. I don't go to the track to pretend to be Ron Fellows, i go to race, and i want the car to look like my car, not someone elses.
what people need to understand is that good racing is good racing, and it does not really matter what the cars look like, if thay are fast and fun to drive, they will be popular.

Racing is racing. What we get for bodies- realistic or whatever has been debated ever since I started racing over 30 years ago.You want realistic how about the paint jobs on our r/c cars. Have you ever seen any of these paint jobs on a real race car at a track?Paint the cars more realistic and then someone might be able to reconize it on the track. That's not going to happen and neither a more realistic handling body. You get one or the other. You the consumer pick what you want to run and how your going to paint it.

So if we raced true to scale bodies would we have to paint them boring like full size?
