By putting on drift tires and using a rear spool, you can turn just about any car into a drift car. HPI makes the sprint 2 for drifting, but it's a vary fragile car. The Tamiya TA05 seems to be what most people are using for drifting.

any 4wd rc car can drift, just change to drift tire.

I am not sure why nobody mentioned the people who started it all, namely Yokomo. After all I still think their cars are the best (at least they have the most realistically made drift bodyshells) and well within the budget requirements stated above.
But as someone said before, any car will drift if you know how to do it (with the possible exception of FWD cars).

I totally agree with you on that Niznai.
I have two of the yokomo drift cars and love them. I actually upgraded one of them to a "grip racer" using Yokomo's upgrade kit. It cost me a pretty penny (almost as much as car itself) but since I pretty much got the 2nd drift car for free, I'm not complaining too much

get timiya tb-03d. you will need cvd in front and rear and spool in rear. it also comes with very nice bling stuffs and drift tires. you need bodie thought.

Hey, Just my 2cents worth. Buy an inexpensive older quality car. The Losi XXX-S makes a great drifter and can be bought cheap. The weight distribution is great, it has lots of steering throw and its pretty tough. Parts are easy to get and inexpensive. Look on Ebay for drift tires. ABS drift tires can be purchased for about 10 buck (12 tires). ABS is 2 inch black drainage pipe and fits perfectly over most 26mm rims. You'll need to press them on pretty hard....I use a rubber hammer. You shouldnt need to glue them and when they get thin cut through them sideways and peel the old ones off. Get a good 19 turn motor (or go brushless)...you'll need it.

Did i hear you say TB-03?Tb-03 are horrible for drifting, many people have TB-03 and the Diff outdrives snap like crazy.

You should really go with a HPI Sprint 2. And the reason why I say that, is when the day comes down to you going to build a Drifter or a TC you can, with no problem!!!
