1996/1997 Electric motors
Ok, back around 1996/1997 I was given a heap of 1/10th scale R/C stuff but I wasn't really interested so it's all back in Australia. In a few weeks I will re-aquire(being brought to the US for me) 2 of the motors that I was given back then. I don't know much about them though.
One was red(all over including endbell) and the other was definately a mod and had a gold finish on the can(no stickers on it) with black hoods(it even had it's own hard plastic motor case :D). There can't have been too many motors around then. Does anybody here know who were the major Japanese motor producers back then and do you know what motors I am talking about? (the guy who gave it too me imported all his stuff from japan) If it helps I'm taking a motors that was probabely already around when RC2000mah cells were introduced in 1997. Cheers  |
It sounds like an old Kyosho stock motor I have one on my lathe and it has the red endbell you talk about could also be a Reddy firehawk. The gold can mod sounds like a trinity D2 or D3 one of the early Dirtinator series came in a gold can. Someone please corect me if im wrong. hope this helps

I was thinkin a D3 based motor as well...

From what I remember the motor didn't have the gold shine finish that the D3 can had, it was sort of a dull gold finish.

they would be great to take fishing, they will hold a worm on the bottom like no other sinker can!

UCHEATULOSE - Nahh I want to race mod with it at least once, just for a kick. I wonder if I'll make run time with 2400's.
|
Well I now know which motors they were, a kyosho lemans stock(20t single), a Kyosho lemans 360st(22T single) and the third gold motor was a Tamiya Rx 540vx technigold (16t single).
Hehe it'll be fun running that old technigold classic. |
