ok i need some help. i have an electric tc3 and i am running an monster pro stock motor with a 27 tooth pinion gear and a 72 tooth spur gear. i was running and the motor started to smoke, i didn't even get to finish the battery pack this have happen twice to me. is the gearing wrong? can i get some help?

I've never run larger than a 25 tooth pinion on my TC3 with the monstor stock. I would try starting with a 24 pinion, I think you will find that you really don't lose that much top end and you'll have alot more punch off the turns.

Yer that's a 6.6 OGR, try a 7.0-7.2 with a monster. Like berger said it could be a bad motor or poor maintance habits.
Most torque stock motors(Mvp/Core stock) like around a 6.5 OGR but the monster(rpm based) likes around a 7.0-7.2(in most cases).
Do a complete re-build, cut, brush change..... but if you've smoked a motor it will never perform as well as it did before.

Gearing depends on the size of the track, the traction that is available, the springs, and what brushes are on the motor.
When you run the 27 on the Monster, you are at an overall gearing of 6.667.
With a 26 on the car, you are running an overall of 6.92
With a 25 on the car, you are running an overall of 7.2
And a 24 on the car will give you an overall of 7.5
When you run a 27, the track should be HUGE.
Possibally why you smoked the Monster Pro, is because the Pro is said to have higher rpm than the standard Monster
At my home track, I run the Monster at an overall of between 6.9 and 7.5, depending on my brush/spring combo.

I've been gearing my monster stock with a 28 tooth spur for the last few races that I've been in, and it's been doing great. I run heavier than normal brushes (purples) and Reedy 767 brushes on my motor. The motor is definately hot after a 5 minute run, but I've run 6-7 quals and 3 mains with that gearing so far, and have yet to burn the motor up. I'd be curious to see what your spring tension is, as I beleive that the heavier springs will pass more current (due to less arcing) and provide more of a tourqey motor. This is just my experience, and I haven't been racing long, so take it with a pound and a half of salt

140x70 high grip asphalt track and everyone here is running 25 teeth on motor, we did burn up 2 monsters with 27's on them. Fatdoggy is right I tried to save the armatures, but decided just to replace them and start over. The both of them are alive and well and smoke free now.

64P gears
Is anybody running 64P gears on a TC3? (smooth carpet track-no bumps...well, hardly no bumps)

hey i was wondering why is it seem like my motor get hotter when i use the heat sink. isn't the heat sink suppose to keep the motor kooller?//

The heatsink is supose to have an amount of airflow over it, to disapate heat. When under the body, there is less airflow, keeping the heat in or around the heatsink. Another thing to consider when running a heatsink are the holes that you block on the motor that are for airflow THROUGH the motor. When you get airflow restriction(from the heatsink), the heat will just want to stay in the motor, making the motor warmer.
