Opinion Time: Best Servo?
 

Hi All,
(I did a search in this forum and there were not any recent servo discussions. All from 2005, new servos have been released since then so I thought I'd start a new discussion.)

So here's the question... I'm looking for a new steering servo, price is not really an issue:

Need help in choosing: for 1/10 Touring
Reliability, Speed, Torque, Standard/LowProfile, Brushless, etc...

What application are you looking for? (ie what class is the servo going to be used in?)

For TC: Futaba BLS451
12th scale: JR3650

10th Scale Touring - 10.5 and Mod

JR 9000s/9100s. Any will do, the 9000 is a bit lighter, but has less torque (but then again, they ARE touring cars...)

The 9000s/9100s are the fastest and torquiest servos around, however, when i don't run a servo saver, i tend to break a bushing mount inside the servo case, but its a five dollar fix. I've ran my 9000s for 2 years and no problems (besides two broken servo cases becuase i was too stupid to not run a servo saver)

One thing i need clarified:

For 1/10 touring, our receivers output at 4.8V right?
So when manufactures list their specs for speed and torque at 6.0V, of course 4.8V wont produce that.

It depends from your speedo, most of them have 6.0V output.

KO 2413 ! what else ? !:nod::nod::nod::nod::nod:

Never used a servo saver with it... never had a single problem. Definitely KO has the best servos on earth . Hirosaka uses them. ;)

It may not be the best on performance, but i've had a Futaba 9550 for 2 or 3 seasons now and so far touch wood, it's been a great servo.

Does what I want it to and is a slim size :)

The Futaba 9550 is a great low-profile servo for rubber touring. The 9550 has been discontinued and replaced with the 9551. The 9551 would be great for rubber or foam touring due to its increased torque output. And at $80, it's a good deal.

I use the Futaba 9551 and the KO 2413. They feel about the same and both get the job done well for low profile servos. The 9551 at $70-80 is a very good deal though. These are also the most widely used servos at the place I race.

I have a TC Spec, for a servo to receiver 6.0V, does that happen automatically straight from the speedy, or does Blue wire have to be connected?
