Default What's a good tire truer?

Just as the title says...

I got into 1/12 recently, and will be running a couple foam tire Sedan races this winter. I'm thinking a truer might be worth getting. Any reccomendations? I'd like to stay fairly cheap, as I won't use it too much.

Hey JeffC

The Ofna tire truer is a good one for the price, but for 1/12 tires you need the Hudy Wheel adapter.

Well, to be honest, I don't even know how much these things cost. I know a comm lathe is around $160-$200 new, I bought mine used for $100. I'd assume that a tire truer is about the same cost, but I really don't know.

Jeff, Cobra makes a nice little DC unit that costs around $100 and I think it is perfect for 1/12. Sometimes you can find them used for $50 or so.

Cool

Hey JeffC

The Ofna tire truer is $225 at NitroHouse(Last Week), then you need the wheel adapters, Sedans adapters are $20, Hudy 1/12 adapters are $30-$35. If your looking for a truer thats cheaper, ovalnator is correct the Cobra trackside truer is about $100 New then you need adapters. If your just doing 1/12, 1/10 Pan Car and Sedan tires its the cheapest way to go. But you can't cut at an angle, just flat across. You can find them on EBAY once an awhile for about $50 or so with some adapters.

Good Luck

You can use mine if you want to. I usually bring it to the track on Saterday nights.

Just so you know, I got the small AC hudy for just over $200.00 plus the 2 arbors for 1/12 scale and sedan foams. It works great.
