I have some of those, I was going to install them but ran into the same problem you have. The kit screws don't even fit. Good job, Not-Racing.

Default 3mm tap

You can either return them and get new ones or pick up a tap and wrench from the local hardware store and tap them yourself. A 3mm tap is a useful tool to have anyway. I was lucky and all of mine were tapped correctly.

I really like the HR metal axle cups. Coupled with the metal drive hexes they are really smooth and don't bind when you tighten the wheel screw.

The rims are TopCad that locally sell in Hong Kong.
-WOW, went to the site, ...those are nice rims. I ..am going to see if I can hunt them down somewhere (flying to Hong Kong for some rims isn't in the budget )

Congrats! Personally I think the car is pretty solid. I upgraded my shocks, turnbuckle, and got the disc brake kit (purely bling). If you plan on running the car non competively and with a brushed 19 turn or higher (slower) motor I think you'll be okay as it is stock out of the box. I've been running a 17 turned brushed, ...the pinion gear kept slipping but a little loctite solved that. I am now thinking of racing this car competively (not totally sure which class ...if I go for an open class i'll get the exotec Carbon Fiber body, -for better handling and will swith to brushless, etc..). ...yet not sure that's the route I want to go w/ this one.

..and here are two updated photos of my Porsche CR. -w/ lights!
...now just need to paint the driver and install w/ the dash kit I am creating. ..I may also include a roll cage for the back seat area (my buddy has a mini tube bender he's been using for crawlers).

First one should be:

Exotek front alloy cup for the center shaft.

..mine haven't snapped yet, but I do hear this is the weak link on our CR'ers. I'll replace mine if/once they break, until then I haven't had an issue. The exotek does seem like a much better design, ..I don't like how the nut has to seat in the cup w/ the stock design. Exotek does make GREAT products, can't go wrong w/ anything they sell.

I'm looking to wring out a little more speed from my CR running a Novak SS Pro 17.5t brushless. I currently run the stock gearing and was looking online for a pinion with higher tooth count than 30.

I found:

ssl-stormerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/seekpart.pl?src=ns&pn=HPI6931 (31T 48P)

HPI has:

hpiracing.com/products/en/6932

Are there any other options for pinions that fit the CR and 540 size motors?

The HPI link above does not list the 6932 pinion as being a part for the CR.

I'm also taking suggestion as to rules and such as it's our first cup event.

Exotek, Skyrocket racing and HPI are sponsors so far.

Any support you can give (setup information, track suggestions, tips etc) would be welcome, thanks!!

..look in the previous posts at the top of page and end of previous page, -there is a link to them.

apparently you can adjust the offset on each rim.

I wouldn't wait until the 3 fingers on the plastic cup snaps.

These fingers lock into the three in the metal bevel gear holding the gear still while you grab the 2 flat spots on the cup and tighten the screw. If the fingers break the gear will spin when you turn the screw. Adding to the problem is HPI said to use RED threadlock (permanent) on the screw.

You can use something to jam the gear but its gonna be a PITA.

Per the manual HPI lists part nos. for up a 35t pinion but the chart gives ratios up to a 39t pinion.

Just don't overheat your motor.
