I have a question about the main drivetrain. I was doing more assembly on my kit last night and found that if you spin the spur, it dosen't freewheel but has some resistance to it. I checked for binding in the spur assembly but could not find any. Is this normal on all kits and will break-in or did I possibly do something wrong?

Oh, wow... Just so happens I have an FX esc, mini rx, and silver can sitting on my bench. Is this an omen?

Looks very nice! How does it drive?

from the little area in my backyard where I drove it - it scoot'ed really nice. Wasn't as noisy as I was expecting it to be - I guess that's partly because of the Pro4 gears

I'm still waiting on a body to put the rear body mounts on - so hopefully by next weekend i'll have it all finished so I can run it on the 30th

I do have to warn you - since I took that long screw from the suspension arms (the one that acts like the steering stop), I did manage to over extend the steering so it got locked not too crazy about having that happen - so I guess at somepoint i'm putting those screws back in..

A little thing I did in the gear boxes - I noticed this 'little bead' right in the center of where the bearing goes. I noticed a ton of binding in the diff cases when the screws were tight, so I had to 1/4 turn the screws back out. So after I noticed this 'bead', I took my knife and smoothed out the bearing seat. I only did this on the half of the diff cases that you remove to change the diffs. Once I did this to the case, I was able to tighten the screws all the way in (but I still backed them out some for good measure )

not sure if this is what others have seen or was it just something with mine?? At some point, I'll pull the entire diff out the car and check out the other half of the case

Hey Andy - any ideas when replacement tires and wheels might be available?? I know I've seen the drift, but how tires for the non-drifting people?

Any word on the 30t motor? I'm asking from a challenge perspective

Found a weakpoint on this car. The front driveshaft cup(85281-10)
This piece is made of plastic, and all three of the notches that go into the bevel gear broke off, turning the car into a rwd car. This was after some fun battles with small crashes here and there with a 17.5.

I have to get a replacement somehow. In the meantime, an aftermarket alloy version of this might be in need...

I checked the hpi website, and the cheapest shipping they offer is $17 for an $8 part
Guess it will sit on the shelf until the LHS starts getting them in. Sucks because I was going to showcase this in the June championship.

Ok, so this is a lesson to be learned. DO NOT shim the bevel gear assembly. If you shim the drive shaft cup to give the bevel gears proper clearance, you will virtually have zero play for the drive shaft. This means that in an event of a crash, the force will go through the drive cups to the drive shaft. I noticed the bearing closest to the front drive cup got all gritty and wobbly. I'm not sure if this is the reason why the notches got sheared off, but is definitely something to look out for. Kinda got a bad feeling about it when I built it, but was so used to the TB03 that I went ahead with it. The TB03's drive shaft has a pretty big margin for chassis flex, so I never broke anything on it yet. Remember, NO SHIMMING, even if the car is loud. My car was quiet though

holy crap!! - where are you located that they are charging $17 shipping?!?!?!

Did you check out Hot Racing?? I posted a link to their Cup Racer parts a few pages back - I think their aluminum hub are only $8 or $12/set

If you do a search on ebay, you can find a couple of people selling the HotRacing parts
