finally got some pics of my cup racer to show. It has a Tamiya cockpit interior with roll bar. The cockpit comes with a driver with open face or closed helmet, but I made my own head and nitrous bottle with some clay you can harden with use of a conventional oven. His beanie is the thumb off a glove.

That is sure one way to go, but I think he'd have more fun assembling a kit, and rather less rebuilding an rtr, judging from his background. OFF: In my eyes, the trx rally is a vehicle that's rather good for nothing, it's just a mix of classes in a scale that's too small to be enjoyable, but that's strictly my opinion. /OFF

This is trick. I mean the car is beautiful, but the interior tray with the clay bits is awesome. Did you say you made the Nitrous Bottle out of polymer clay? I wonder if custom headlight buckets would work from clay. Maybe tail light buckets and even grille inserts. Thanks for posting this is really nice.

Thanks a lot. I'm not sure if it is a polymer clay or not. I dug up the wrapper the clay came in. The company is Staedtler and the product is called FIMO Effect. It comes in different colors in small packs for under $3.00. Pretty easy to work with.

Default diff question

is the gear diff or ball diff better, I noticed you cant get metal out drives on the ball diff, does everyone run gear diffs/front and rear?

I am debating between the Cup Racer and the Sprint 2.

Which one should I get and why?

Hey guys, we just picked up three Cup Racers for our local track to try and spark up a budget spec class. I also picked up three sets of EZrun/Tacon gear and 3000mah 2s hardcase packs for them. I went with the finned 540 size 2100Kv Tacon so we can keep the speeds low and try to keep them running well on our "bumpy" on-road style track which was originally built for RC18s.

I was wondering if we should have any durability issues with such mild setups which will only be geared for 18-20mph. I have read several posts about the drive cups, but it would be nice if we could run these stock.

Default setup question

Hi all, have been reading the thread with much interest. Got hands on the hpi cup racer drift version a while ago. Have added exotek carbon chassis, stood the front shocks up instead of laying down etc. Have now got it set up for racing, running 13turn brushless which runs well.
Am having an issue with the tail being really twitchy and wanting to spin out when running into corners. Not real sure what to do, have tried different springs, different shock positions etc
has anyone else had this issue?

I would opt for a kit if it was father and son, you can build them together, not sure if the sprint is a kit but the cup racer is, I remember building models with my dad, good memories, wouldnt trade them for anything.
