is this the MINI body your talking about?
what is the wheelbase on this?

The newer Mini Body (2006) will not fit on our chassis. The 06 Mini from Tamiya fits their M-03L, which has a Wheelbase of 239mm.

This is the HPI Body I am talking about:

And these are the Tamiya bodies:

ah, got it, thanks.

Yeah, i'll probably go w/ the HPI body, it's about $10 cheaper and seems to be as nice as the Tamiya ones ...

Yep, two actually. Both are unfinished. When finished they'll look great. The Mini shell has a ton of roof space inside for electronics

My first cup racer. What a fun challenging build. Enjoyed it.

I have a 1956 Split Window VW from Active Hobby as well as an HPI Lancia Stratos to build for this chassis. Should be fun...

i prefer my bodies to look scale. I cut 1/4" balsa bar to the length of the body posts. drill holes, glue the balsa to the body mounts, then put velcro on top. Velcro on the body. Strong enough to pick the car up by the body, even my Unimog SCX10 is like this.

My M06 but you get the idea. VERY strong.

Thanks!. I've done it on nearly every car/crawler I've built. The unimog even holds up in bind situations where the tires are stretching the body.

You can use tin snips to cut hobby metal, then sand down the body posts, then apply the velcro, or use balsa. I couldn't find any more metal so I used balsa.

I stock up on body posts and prefer all my cars look scale.

Edit: White gorilla glue and black gorilla glue (for black backing paint) work great for sealing the velcro or metal to the post for extra srength, but I only found it necessary with my crawler. I can pick it up and swing it around.
