Fronts and rears should be the same compounds in the kit unless you installed different compounds on purpose when doing tires. My rears are wearing perfectly even and show no signs of inbound or outbound loading. The fronts however show loads of inbound loading and show significant signs of scrub. I had no traction rolling issues with the car until I mounted 2 cameras to the shell roof lol. I already took measures to adjust the geometry and got it to where I think it will ride with less scrub and more surface contact in the front. Might increase the roll over tendencies however time will tell. I can care less about how fast tires wear out but as long as it hooks up I will be happy.

Giantzak,
your scoring on all the unique bodies.

-love the 959, ...would like it better if it had a little more detail (like the HPI bodies) ...wipers, mirrors, exhaust, ...etc.

Thought it looked wider. Whats up with these GTI guys and having wheels sticking out pats the wells? Such a awful look IMO. You want a go-cart?...... then go buy one. Oh we can even take a tire meant for a 6 inch wide rim and install it on a 9 inch rim.....lol just my rant. I'm sure someone can bitch about how I'm doing up my old hot rod up also lol.

So does anyone have a difficult time getting the spur gear mount off?

I think the prev. owner put it on w/ CA and not thread lock. Seems impossible to get off. I just want a fresh spur gear and to re-assemble the car.

I'm trying to sort out gearing as well. I'm thinking about a 19t motor and a simple ESC. Nothing too fancy. I might also consider the Exotek chassis, but I could be getting one made as well.

Frank, good to see you making a comeback. Now if only the rally cars could make a comeback, THAT would be epic. I miss the old days of the HPI forum days.

Default Rear diff spur assembly issue

I'm building a cup racer. Called HPI about this, they didn't have any advice. I saw that Jubilee had noticed this issue and solved it but I didn't understand what exactly he did.

Issue:

The three screws that hold on the semi-transparent spur gear cover rub on part 86194. I screwed them in all the way, they are the correct screws. Then I finished assembling the rear diff unit, there was considerable back and forth play with the spur gear. Is this something I should resolve or continue building? Anyone else notice this? (page 20 in manual)

Any help appreciated!

Well, I disassembled the rear diff case assembly and re-did it, took a few times but I think I just didn't have one of the parts meshed/seated properly. Now that I have it mounted to the chassis everything is tight and smooth.

Hi, Unless you plan on doing some rallying with it it's kind of not needed any way. A few of the included parts end up being dead weight. M

Default Front suspension travel

This is my first on-road car build. I'm used to seeing quite a bit of travel in the suspension. My Cup Racer gets less than 1/4" of up-down travel in the front .. more in the back. Is this normal?
