Well after 9 weeks I got a new SPX back from LRP, and I'll be giving it a shakedown tonight. Hopefully this one doesn't pop on me too.

Lucky You!

Talk to a real nice guy at LRP yesterday. He informed me that my SPX suffered an esc failure and they will replace it under warranty.

Then informed me that they are out of stock for two weeks.

I may get to race in august.

WOW

i just "tried" 5.6 gearing as i read about all you lads with straights the same length as ours ........

and i'm faster then the GM powered car

the track was not grippy and i am using my reserve TOP not my usual TRF416 but it was quick in a straight line and hed loads of punch out the corners , all though we were both 4 wheel drifting out the corners there was soo little grip

went from gearing 4.1/4.3 with the TCspec to 4.5/4.6 with te SPX and it was okish !!!! now it is ALIVE !!!!

need to go tommorrow and mess with the gearing and the programs !!!!

keep your eyes peeled for updates ,

Glad you got your car up to speed Your story is very similar to what happened to my friend a couple of weekends ago. He also has a 416, and was running a 17.5 duo with FDR 4.3 in profile 8 on a small (80ft/24.38m straight) outdoor technical track. I told him he was lucky he didn't pop his speedo LOL! Told him to trust me and run mid 5's for a FDR on the next qualifier. After the gearing change he was a full sec a lap faster. High FDR almost always works better for the SPX in my experience. On my local track, outside asphalt (130ft/40m straight) I had awesome speed with my Express 17.5 duo/first hole timing, profile 8, running a FDR 5.3-5.4. I try to gear in a way to stay in advanced timing as much as I can! But if you start running higher and higher FDR watch your motor temps, they start to get pretty high. Anyway, just trying to help

Hey Guys.
I have just got an lrp stock spec
I need some help on gearing. The track is asphalt and very technical, the straight is about 20m long. Running rubber tyres, 10.5 motor (Novak) and an xray 009. Normally gear with LRP sphere tc around 5.5-5.8.
advice would be gratefull.

P.S: Do you guys run without drag brake?

Thanks alot Ben

just need to change my servo , it only turns left !!!!!!

gonna try messing with the gearing and the profiles

youngben :-

never use drag brake or Auto brake

but it is up to you and your driving style , i like to roll the throttle and keep the corner speed

Hi Jonny,

List your current motor, gearing and track description to get help from others here.

Most racers with issues have been overgeared.

Hi Bill,

my setup when i used SPX...

LRP 9.5T... timing "0"
FDR 7.4
Profile 7

using this setup my motor get only 85šC in very hot days

after some test i changed to profile 8 and FDR 7.7, after some packs i felt the esc is not working properly, i stopped to see what it was and noticed that when the car is stationary does not accelerate, and when the wheels turning with it accelerates normaly
speaking with a representative of LRP, he told me it was a phase of esc that burned, this happened after i started to use profile 8, before this i used the profile 7 for 4 ~5 months and nothing happened

the same thing happened with the 3 escīs

Try adding 3 or 4 teeth to your pinion. Then keep an eye on the motor temps and performance. I started on 5 and then increased the profile to 7. Works great for me but I run VTA. Just make small changes and keep a close eye.

I kept the default setting for the drag brake on mine and don't see a problem.

is not small, but I can not say the size, using this esc i noticed that dont need longer FDR because this esc get more rpmīs, so you have top end speed, a good ratio that i find was 7.0 ~7.7

using 5.5 ~ 5.8 on TC, with 20m of straight you can start 7.0 with profile 7

i'm not having a dig but i am so suprised at how high the ratios are getting !!

PS dont time the 13.5 LRP as far as it will go ..... it wont last a full lipo !!!!!!

just ordered a new one to try after i cooked this one by timing it too far !!!

how far is every one running there timing on there motors as my Speed Passion motor is shite but the LRP with timing was VERY quick !!!
