Trim some material off of the gear case, try looking rims that are lighter than others. The problem for the 03 is not being faster its how you make the care carry speed in the corners and out. I found that you have to make sure the car has even length shocks all aroung and that there is no binding in the drive tran and lower the car down.

OK, thanks. Then among all three, TA03F, TL01, and FF01, which car is the strongest?

I can not answer that because I don't have no experience with the other cars. The FF is lighter, the TL01 you have to some work to it if you are buying the basic kit.

My brother has a TL-01 and I have a TA03F. When we first started running them against each other we both had 16Turn Motors which were by Eagle Racing (cheapies) With the same motors and the same pinion gears fitted his car ran consistantly faster than mine in a straight line. I have since read in a recent comparison in a RC Magazine that it is a fact that TL-01's are quick for their comparitive motor sizes due to their drivetrain setup.
See the RADIO CONTROL TOURING CARS MAG "FALL 2002 Edition" for a good comparison on the AcademySTR-4/AssociatedTC3/CEN GX-1/Tamiya TL-01/and the Traxxas 4-TEC. It makes for some good reading...

Steevo

Keep in mind that cars don't all have the same internal transmission ratio or spurgears. That's probably the difference you're seeing. Even though you are using the same pinion gears, chances are you are not running the same gear ratio in both cars. You would need to run the same gear ratio in both cars for this to be a true test.

No Worries mate,
I am just waiting on my 12tooth pinion gear which i have on order before i dare try anything. I have had some overgearing problems on my main car which has kept me more than Busy. I just melted an 11 Turn motor which i had only just bought a few weeks ago by trying to run it too high and without enough break between runs. Oh well you learn from your mistakes. I do have confidence that the car will handle it though as a drag race is very short and my ESC has a speed up function which allows control of acceleration so i can set it so that it comes on gradually rather than all at once.

That's no fun. Your supposed to put a 25 tooth pinion on there and just mash the throttle!!! And get a video of parts flying everywhere

Well I guess your idea will work too but is not quite as entertaining....let us know.

I think you are right about these things being tough TRF512

Any way the drag version is now in a new stage of development with the car being converted from 4WD to rear wheel drive. It all looks good so far and i am looking forward to seeing how the thing drives. I am not expecting too much in the way of steering but it does only have to hold a straight line. I just wish i was able to upload some video of it when it gets going but i don't have the software to do it......

I was kidding about parts flying everywhere though, I have seen this suckers take a licking and keep on ticking....

Default TA03 Internal Ratio

Hello everyone,
Can someone please tell me the Internal Ratio for the TA03F with the standard black 0.6 Gears. I think that it might be 2.77 but I am not %100.
Thanks
