Dongskie....Very nice. Do run against other Tamiya cars or do run it in a more traditional stock class against other touring cars from other companies? If you run agaist other touring cars how do you do agaist them?

I know I ran my DJ a few times in normal stock and it was a little hard to keep up against some of the better models out. In mod it was actually better since I could use lower winds to make up for any tranny drag.

Default What Tamiya Motor

Hi there.... glad I found a thread dedicaed to TA03's

I have a TA03R TRF and am planning to run the 2002 Australian TCS... but I have one small dilemma... I can't find ANY information on the latest Tamiya motors, in particular the actual specs (winds etc)... this year's rules make tamiya motors compulsary....

The track that the TCS is being held on is not big but does supposedly have a decent main straight (I haven't seen it yet)... I need to make a decision on which motor to buy... I have to choose between the new Super Modified (11T), an Acto-power (17T?), Dynarun Touring Motor, or the new Tamiya Super Stock motors (Type R or T)... I really need to find out some specific information on these motors quickly.

I'd get rid of the Tamiya connectors on your battery and replace them with Deans or powerpole connectors. The Tamiya connectors have a tendancy to fuse together and they also have a lot of loss. Same with the bullet connectors on the motor. You're best off hard wiring the motor. If you run stock and mod with the same car, Trinity makes some nice connectors that you solder that have very little loss.

Wyd: I run it with Tamiya's Stock Touring Class with the 540 stock motor.. It does well with TL-01s ands TA-02s... I haven't tried the Tamiya DynaRun Super Touring motor although I have one... I remember David Jun ran his 03 with that motor.

I haven't raced with other manufacturers kit yet, but I believe this has a competition since I tried a friend's 03F in an all mod class and it ran really well.

Psycho: Oh yes those Tamiya plugs and bullet conns are about to go... I am just waiting for a good weekend to squeeze in the workload... job is pretty hectic this past few weeks...

If you are using the .04 gears try a 24 or 25 pinion but its based off of how you are using the car.

Hi ShadowAU,
I think you should get the Tamiya Dyna Run Super Touring if the track is tight and small. It is the most efficient of all the motors.
Here is the specs:
Dyna Run Super Touring 13X2
New Super Modified 11X3 ( if I am not mistaken )
Acto Power 16T if I am not mistaken
Type T 23T closed endbell
Type R
Type S
I can't remember which particular stock motor is able to turn the endbell. If I am not wrong it is the Type R. We use Type T for TCS race in Singapore and it is quite fast and efficient I might say.
I read the rules and regulations in the latest Sept RACING LINES magazine and I notice that the rules are pretty flexible. Well actually it all depends on which class you wanna join.
