hey, where's that post about spur/pinion combination for 0.4P of the 03?

can't find it anymore.

whoever posted it please post it again. need them badly.

was it based on the 63T Spur/33T Idlergear/16T countergear/43T balldiff combinations? (white gears)

Help me with the computations, please

Default Psycho,

I've been looking at Jules' car, the one whose pics he posted...

I noticed that more weight is located on the front wheels. I know because I've been trying different locations for my battery, servo, ESC and receiver. Does having more weight in front help correct understeer?

I have read somewhere that it may even worsen understeer since the front tires will be bucking more inertia; but I was thinking, if I execute the turn off-power ,meaning, slower, then the added weight may help improve steering?

Kindly give some inputs please... Trying this on my 03R will require fabricating some way of mounting the servo ontop of the battery. I am using the 03F converted to 03R... I mean, if it won't help then I can save some more time on the tracks this weekend...

I'm still going to try loosening my front ball diff of course. Might even try dropping a gear diff in front. Maybe it can help

Thanks...

I think there are a lot of factors that lead to having understeer. It depends on how much weight, where it is and what the suspension geometry does. It may improve things or it may make them much worse depending on what you do. I don't think you can get the weight low enough to add traction without creating more roll, so I would probably try to fix the problem another way. If you want to get creative, you might try adapting a front shock tower from another car that has more positions on it. This way, you can lay the front shocks down to get a more progressive action and also some fine tuning between springrates. My honest opinion, if I were you, I would put the car back to the "F" configuration and set it up as it says in the instructions. If it doesn't handle the way you want, then make some changes. By changing so many things around, you may have introduced something that makes the car handle poorly. Keep in mind that the tires are the coursest adjustment you can make to the car. If you've already exhausted all options there, then you move on to these more drastic things.

Cool pro battery holder

Hi,

Sorry for the long leave of absence, I've just changed jobs, but more importantly I've been playing with the 03R.

Some bits have turned up. I got the urethane bumper set (thanks for the part number!) which has made me feel a lot more confident...

I've also got the replacement uprights as the rear ones were missing the stabilizer mounts.

I've had no problems fitting any of the above bits... all easy. However, I also ordered "TA03 Pro J parts battery holder" as mine didn't have a battery holder and it was the only part listed at the shop that looked like it would do the job. Now it's arrived I don't have a clue what to do with it. There's loads of bits...

Does anyone have the model number of a TA03 Pro so I can look for an exploded diag on the Tamiya USA web site? Or an idiots guide to fitting one??

Thanks!
Jules.

Jules,

I believe that you have the wrong part "TA03 Pro J parts battery holder", this part is used for the double deck TA03 like the Pro, DJ, and TRF. If I remember correctly, you have the tub chassis. Check this site out it has the part numbers and the exploded diag. for there cars.

Default belt tension

Helped a friend rebuild his TA03F, including installing a new belt. Even with the tensioner set all of the way down, the belt feels loose. Is this normal? Thanks for any help.

Anyways, I am planning to rebuild my TA03F, although I was thinking of converting it to an R version.... Which did you find better in handling... Thanks!!

Dongskie,

I converted my F to R... You need to change the pulleys to 15T... I can't comment on the handling since I am still new to RC racing... What I can comment about is the amount of security I get whenever the car collides heads-on with the wall. With the R, I was able to make a better bumper than what's possible with the F...

I PM'ed you once... I'm from Makati...

Rough512: Hey there! yeah you guys here seems familiar... maybe I just can't recall...

Anyway, my 03 is a PRO version with the CF decks... but it is still in Frong motor config.. I haven't actually driven an R version, so maybe there is a difference to how it should handle....

I'll keep you posted with my developments as soon as I complete my missing parts....

Would you mind posting photos of your 03's??

Keep in touch!!

My R versions had alot better steering overall but was not as forgiving as the F model was. I like the R better overall since it did have alot more steering to start with.

Dongskie;

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, i've seen that car at Fiesta last Saturday during the TAC. And it's great considering that Simon is the one driving it.

BTW, rough512 is filipino. I raced with him at the Pasig Wacky RAce last month.

Bitoy: Hey there dude!! ah great you appreciate a little innovation from the usual sight for sore eyes.. lol!

Simon wanted to try my chassis' handling and we wanted to make the car drift... like from the anime Initial D... we only got it to drift when we used the Tamiya GT Radial tires...

I wasn't at the finals because i had to attend to a shoot in Rosario Batangas....
