Do we think this will be similar in price to the 415MS, and 415MSX when they came out? We looking at $400 - $500?

There seems to be some confusion about how the car will be equipped (body, ti screws), but it should not be much higher, if at all. Additional items may cause the price to escalate but at least they are value items that you may very well want to purchase anyway.

If they price it the same as or close to the MSX and 415 kits I really can't complain. I would like to see them put as many of the optional parts on it as possible. To me, it is almost always worth the extra money to make sure I have all the goodies on there. If Tamiya can put them all in one kit, that would be great.

Rick, what advantages of this new car did you see over the MSX. I know the steering is a big one that most people are looking forward to, but of the other changes (new upper and lower chassis, motor cooling, wide teeth deisgn pulleys, and others I don't know about) what things were most noticable. How much could the non-pro notice from this new car to the MSX?

The motor cooling is a big improvement. As is the steering. Although trying it back to back against the old steering is impossible using the same car. Josh Numan ran the new steering at the Reedy Race and Nats while I ran the old steering at these races and we were about the same. The new steering has much less slop than the old version. The car trims better and is easier to drive.

The drivetrain rolls much more freely with the new pulleys/belts. And the center pulley/spur gear area is simplified and easier to work with. You use spacers to position the entire assembly (and maintain a consistent position during maintenance) rather than set screws to hold individual components.

I think most will notice the drivetrain. Better roll with a better ratio imporve acceleration and top speed.

Well you sold me! I will have to get ready to order one when they come out. Thanks for the input and info on the new car.

I was looking for a direct front coupling for the MSX and noticed that Tamiya discontinued it recently. I then noticed that the one from the Evo IV said it was compatible with the 415.....however forgot they might have meant the 415MS and not MSX.. So when I got one, of course it didn't work. Does anyone know where I might find one for my MSX? If it is discontinued, what should I use in place of a one way?

There is no difference between the original415 to the msx refined. The entire series use's the same drivetrain.

Look at the difference in the width of the spool. Tamiya says it will work on both chassis, but I cannot figure out how to get it to work right since it is so wide. Also, I do not know what else I need to mount it on the pulley besides just the included hardware. Any help is appreciated!

The first attatchment is the EvoIV spool and the second is the discontinued 415 spool.

I think if the EVO IV spool worked in the 415, Tamiya would have just made one for both cars. Those two don't look compatible at all

until now Juan, looks like the new car will have the updated pulleys and belt. Same dual unequal length belt configuration, but different in terms of belt teeth and pulley profile. The question is if you take the original TRF415 from November 2003, what parts would be compatible to make a new TRF415MSX Marc Rheinard Edition? Asides from the dampers and the screws.....chassis-nope,bulkheads-nope,suspension arms-nope,steering-nope, belts-nope, damper towers-nope,belts and pulleys-nope,hmmm I finally got one! Suspension blocks. Anyone else have any ideas? TIA

I would think what questions from the 415MSX would be compatible to the 415MSX Marc Edition? That is the only upgrade kit I might see.

Thanks for the help with the spool. I contacted Tamiya about the part and they said it was their fault since the website was a bit confusing. They said they weren't sure why someone felt the need to put under the Evo IV spool description the part number for the 415 and they had some issues with that before.

Anyone in the market for a Evo IV spool????
