1. What's the internal drive ratio for the MSX?
2. What's a good final drive ratio?
3. A hole does not exist to mount the center aluminum brace (in front of the motor, that goes from the top deck to the chassis)...should I drill one?
4. Do the diff need a lot of breaking in?

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've never run Tamiya and after building it, this car has excellent fit & finish. I hoping to run it on asphalt one day with rubber, but I've got plenty of nitro onroad obligations to contend with before I launch into another category. Thanks in advance.

Watch out Carl...
The car looks really good Steve...I see you really made good use of the standard 415 parts... nice job on the graphite

Double check your wheel base width with a set of tires...May be too wide with both red and silver wheel spacers...

No need to break-in the diff...run it once and double check afterwards...my diffs have remained fairly consistent....run the front diff tighter than the rear.

Thanks Carl. Do you know a decent final drive ratio? I usually run very small foams...like 58mm or less. Looking forward to running it next weekend at the Jam. Want to go?

Not to sure about the Jam as its a full weekend race...last time I ran 19T at Mimi's, I ran 37 / 102 with 56.5mm foams.

Just Search this thread (button at top right) and look for "Vegas" and "Martin" and it'll bring up some posts that have the setups for 19t rubber/carpet for regular 415. For MSX just go to RCZone.net and look under setups/415MSX and Marcs setup is posted there.

Default 3mm Chasis

With the 415 does running a 3mm chasis make that big of a difference ? I currently run stock rubber with the standard suspension on carpet.

If you have the original 415 not the MS or MSX you already have the 3mm chassis.

Hey all,

I am currently running my 415MS with old school hard suspension. I have the D1 block in front (straight pins)and narrow hexes with a blue spacer and in the back are b and c-blocks for inboard toe in, narrow hexes and a blue spacer.

If I wanted to increase mechanical grip all around, would I run narrower inboard blocks and wider hexes or the opposite? Wider arms spacing and narrow hexes?

Thanks,
Ray
p.s. if anyone feels like giving a tutorial or a link to one-I am listening

If you can't find it anywhere, you can always order it online directly through Tamiya, of coase you'll have to pay full retail!
