Yep I agree the TA05 is never going to be better than a 415. It was never planned to be better. I know the TA05's are good, I have been using one lately at a local track that runs foams(on asphalt). I have been running it in Mod with a 8x1 and I have to say it has been brilliant ! Its a very fast car, and I have only put a few hop-ups on it. The bonus with the TA05 is you don't have to play around with putting Pro4 hubs on it like you do with the 415 to be able to run the wider foams. I find the car just works well with foams, and that lets me leave my MSX in rubber spec.

As maxoo said, Jürgen is the only one making that blue aluminium diffs.
There was a website in Denmark showing all that staff from Jürgen but unfortunately this site donīt work anymore. Hereīs a picture from the front diff halves.

Any recommendation on using the DJ Pro Module for carpet racing?

SMcpot, v12. croy, odawg..thanks to the early tips with the MSX steering rack. I did notice that the original 415 steering rack is drilled to same as the MSX with the exception of the milled bearing spacer.

I will epoxy the msx plate and clamp in a vice...this should work...in the meantime I'm going to use the original steering rack.

Hi,

Best thing to do is run through the main differences of the cars.

TRF415;
The original car came with -
3mm chassis,
TA04 style suspension
48.5mm hinge pins
Taller shock towers (with a 5th body post mounting on the front)
Straight edged bulkheads

TRF415 MS
2.5mm chassis
Evo4/MS Lightwieght Reversible suspension
46mm hingpins (suspension piviot blocks 2mm closer together)
Lower shock towers (with extra hole on the rear, and no 5th body post mount)
"curvy" edges to the rear bulkheads.

TRF415 MSX
as per the MS
Also, New bulkheads (including an extra stiffening brace NOT in the MSX conversion) shock towers (same mounting positions as the MS), and a new metal rear diff, allowing for external adjustment

There never was a conversion kit for the standard car to MS spec, however in reality all that was needed was the thinner chassis, the LWT suspension kit (with the shorter hinge pins) and the MS shock towers. I actually ran my old car with the 3mm chassis for most of the year, with the LWT suspension.

Now there is some confusion around regarding the MSX conversion (not the kit), as Tamiya say it won't work on a std 415, without the LWT suspesnion. Thats complete BS. Marc R at the IIC in Vegas ran an MSX with the standard suspension (and I'd assume a 3mm chassis) in Mod rubber, so it works fine.

I'm using the MSX conversion kit with the standard 415 arms and the 3mm chassis...works great with foams on carpet...

I will switch to the LWT arms, only because I want the 2 degree caster option that available with the LWT arms...not available for the standard arms.

Questions: When using the LWT arms and castor blocks with the HPI steering knuckles....(needed to clear foam tires only)....Do I put a spacer on the top or bottem of the HPI knuckles to take-up the space with the Tamiya castor blocks???

I think from what I was reading here the washer goes on top. But putting the washer at the bottem also would affect rollcenter.

And yes the MSX conversion kit also works for me very well on my std 415 with 3mm chassis and old suspension.
I also was confused when Tamiya said you need a 415MS for the conversion kit. But itīs good thatīs not true.
