hi, i want to order a pinion for my 102spur that cam with my 415. is the above part number a suitable fit?

Doomah - Use the gear ratio chart i sent you. Dont mess around with the Tamiya pitch go straight for 48.

I will be taking a spectate at both Castle hill and Windsor tonight, come and ask me some questions in person.

How many MM's are the tamiya narrow rims? I have aEvo 4 MS and I am looking to get tires...you think that 470 for a car on tower at least it could come with tires of some sort...FUZZ

here i'll drop some knowledge on hpi driveshafts

pro4 US came with cvd's. everywhere else came with universals.
cyclone comes exclusively with universals (us/etc).

pro 4 bones are longer than cyclone bones. they are NOT interchangeable.
cyclone bones and tamiya bones are the same length (cant remember if cyclone is 44 or 42)
hpi uses a different size pin on the bone that goes into the outdrive, than hpi.

therefore none of the universal stuff is interchangeable between cars.

hpi steering knuckles and hub carriers use a 5x10 bearing. tamiya uses a 5x9 bearing.

therefore you should only have to replace axle bearings (and perhaps shimming)_ when switching brands of knuckles / spacers.

if you're looking for bearings you may try www.kgbracing.com/redstarbearings.php, they will sell you just wheel bearings if you want.



im no expert, this is just the amassed info i have from this thread and from cyclone / pro4 threads. your mileage may vary

I used a pinion from HPI and Kimbrough and they where fine with the spur that came with the kit. I t was soooo quiet.

Someone was asking about servo savers for the 415 - I want to replace mine as it now has *lots* of play in it (enough so I have to correct when coming into a straight... not good)

Someone mentioned the 'kimbrough' servo savers, but I checked the CML site and there are medium + large... what size do I need for the 415?

Also has anyone tried replacing the standard 5mm Turnbuckle Ends - as they are not best in the world, just wondered if you could fit the screw-down style ones that the xray has?

Front Universal Drive/Swingshaft for Tamiya Spool

Quick question re subject matter. Is it suitable to use the 46mm blue light weight alum drive/layshaft w/ the Tamiya spool or is it you can only use the steel ones? Thanks in advance for the replies.

because of the stress of having a spool, you will bend the aluminium ones in no time.
I d say stick with the steel ones.

I'll borrow some Xray ballends this weekend to check if their suitable on the 415. I'll report when i'm home.

The medium Kimbrough saver should be great, i have a large version but it's too big to even fit in the car, the saver hits the chassis.

Thanks for the quick response Patriiick. Would the titanium ones be a good alternative? I think Tamiya or another outfit will make one, not sure if it was Square who already has the titanium drive shafts already.

Yes the medium Kimbrough servosaver is just right size. Centers way better than the Tamiya.

I'm using those too...I gave up on the tamiya ones a long long time ago...The are ok for awhile...Then when it waers down,there will be play and there goes centre-ing...

A word of caution before using tamiya spools...They don't take impacts...A friend os mine broke a couple of outdrives already.. He considered my tracks top drivers...
