I spoke to Viktor last week about the cars they where running.
The car with the short arms are the one they used in Germany the week before the RROC. Viktor tested both cars, but liked the Standard MSXX better than the "old" car and used that one.
Seems like Marc liked the more responsive car better and used that one.
As for the front blocks, I am pretty sure Marc used something like D-B up front. (they used D-D) in Germany.
Thats why there are about 5mm shims under the rear front block. The standard blocks need to be shimmed 5mm and the X blocks only needs 3mm.
The car would be way too narrow with B-XB.... the distance between the arm and bulkhead is also quite big so I am guessing he used D-B.

now, I can't figure this out...
why would you go to all the effort to customise that MRE with an MSXX top deck, 18t pulleys, cut centre brace, and flipped evo5 steering, just to have it as a photo car...
The first car seems to have the short arms all round, and the old style steering. It does seem as though it has wide blocks on the rear though, (pretty sure it's X/E). Still has the std 16t pulleys on too... 2.5mm chassis though, you can tell by the front bumper mount, and no extra slots for cell tape.

My 501X is Awesome, very happy with that car!
Have not had the chance to race it as much as I want to, unfortnately
Viktor's setup where a pretty standard MSXX for the Reedy Race....
Except for the cut rear brace, new pulleys and belts and a modified motor mount. Motor is moved 1.0mm inn and the mount is milled on the uderside so that it no longer touches the chassis. The front screw is no longer used....
Creates more even flex to both sides...

Have not had the chance to race it as much as I want to, unfortnately

Whats the point to flipping the steering system on the newer 415s? I run the old steering so I wouldn't know.
Also, are there any other ball cups which fit Tamiya ball ends? The Tamiya ones build up so much slop in the car.

So the MSX car was used at the german nats, and the MRE/SXX version at RROC?
Anyway, good job on the setups... useful to have

In Germany (Not the Nats by the way) they both used the "older" car with short EVO5 arms.
This is what I have been told anyway.....
As for the setups, the ballstuds on the camberlinks are the taller nut type, not the hex ballstuds! (just so you get the RC correct)
I also put D-B blocks up front on my car yesterday and I am 99% sure that it's what Marc has on his car in the pictures

Hey I am thinking about picking up a trf415 mre, or MSXX. What should I know about tamiya cars? I see the spur is .04 for pitch? Does this mean all new pinions or can I just buy a new spur. I currently have all 64p.
