LRP 13.5 Problem
Hi All
I have an lrp 13.5 stock spec that was used only twice, on the first run it was fast and geared at a 4.5 FDR. On the second run the motor was bad, it cogged badly and was slower than a 17.5 . I opened the motor and removed the rotor and found that a component had come unsoldered from the circuit board near the rotor, it is a brown in colour component (not sure if its a resistor or capacitor) does anyone know the details of this component so i can get a replacement incase the original does not work when i resolder it? Thanks Ya`All |
that sounds like a hall effect sensor...
there are usually 3 of them (one pointing at each stack) and they are responsible for sensing the position of the rotor i'm guessing its now cogging because the ESC cant sense the position of the rotor and doesnt know where to apply power to get it rotate well thats my guess anyway! |
I would just send it to LRP. In my experience customer service is pretty good. A bit of an inconvienience if you need it but at least you'll know its fixed(I'd be surprised if they didn't just replace the motor).

Hello
Thanks, but the price to ship the motor in my country is pretty much the same as a new motor. I have already dismantled the whole motor and taken the sensor out, and all i need is the specs of the capacitor. i have heard it could be a 0.01uf capacitor, but im not sure. Also by inspecting this motor, i cant see how timing is changed on the motor, as turning the timing ring doesnt seem to move the sensor at all? Thanks Ya`All |
