Where do I place motor cooling fan

I am running a brushless 17.5 motor and I have 2 integy heatsinks with different fan locations.

One of them places the fan on the middle of the motor can.
The other one is for cooling the motor on the end.

For a brushless motor, where is the best place to cool the motor?

I think that the hottest spot on the can is the middle.
