Is this a good place to mention that there isn't a ROAR rule against turn marshalling without pants?

I say let those of us who like tuning brushed motors and maybe aren't ready to go brushless keep running a stock brushed motor. If it's not competitive, that means you have to work a little and try to get better.

A fast car and the latest equipment will NOT make you a better driver.
You can still tweak BL motors performance through mechanical timing, software timing, rotor strength and shimming the rotor to center it in the magnetic feild, not to mention throttle curves and profiles,so the area for tinkering still exists for those who like to tune and tinker.

Nationals should be representative of what is being run. Brushed is not it!

If the weight rule is not raised it will virtually force those wanting to be competitive to revert back. Most have sold or deep sixed their Dyno's, lathes, and speedos and I'm sure it would be a happier crowd if they did not have to get those back out.

McSmooth.... never noticed that rule was lacking such wording... I'll get that adjusted.

Ok.. so brushed motors are dead and nobody has a problem with the idea that a sanctioning body is going to be the one to put the final knife in its soul? Would love to hear from some motor tuners.. OEM's and MFG's..??

Dawn,

Here's an idea...

The 'BRUSHED STOCK NATIONALS'

There MAY be a class of racer who hasn't decided to go to the BRUSHLESS ease...and may want their OWN "Special Event"

Two Classes

"HANDOUT" -- for the less experienced

"OPEN" -- using Legal motors supplied by the actual racers...

Try it ONCE -- PICK a track and racing venue and give it a try...

Who knows...as a 'stand alone' event it may be HUGE!

I would like to see similar price caps put on "stock" brushless motors as there were on stock brushed motors. Say, $50 or less. Unless I'm mistaken, there's no rule setup like this. With the older motors it wasn't quite as expensive buying up 5 motors to find the fastest one. With motors costing twice as much in brushless, it's going to put more of a hurting on racers wanting to attend large events.

Dawn , most of the tuners that were large names I think have moved on to BL motors through necessity. Like murfdogg, full throttle etc.

Dawn, if you consider that several of the independant races have already gone to brushless only, that soul is pretty much dead already.

I just went into the Snowbirds site...there's only 1 class that mentions 19 turn. The other spec motor classes are all brushless.

I suppose you could run a brushed motor in mod...but why?

Can I ask why everyone is in such a rush to get rid of the Brushed Stock?

I don't have anymore brushed motors and don't understand the need to force a couple of people to buy brushless, especially in this economy...
