ok heres one for you foam tire gurus

can you clean your foam tires in between rounds and what to use if possible , the track i run at gets my tires real gooy , i mean when you come off the track and check your tires they are sticky can i clean them to bring them back to when i started the race or should i just keep throwing the tire compound to them or what . (12th scale ) running purples and grey rear

Wrap painters tape around them then remove, it cleans them. To get the stickyness out of them if need be you can use some lighter fluid. Only use the lighter fluid if you need it. Taping to clean them you can do every run.

Yeah you should be able to. Put some fluid on a towel and wipe them off. Then wipe dry.

motor spray on a towel and wipe them down.

Motorspray works well or check out www.muddslidemotorsports.com they have a specific foam tire cleaner that i hear is a awsome. C3 is a heck of a guy too.

that stuff works awesome

For foam tires, I spray the motor spray right on the tires (for rubber, I spray it on the rag). Then use a rag (blue scott towels work great) to slick the crap right out of the tires.

What traction compound do they use?

+1 and you can run the tires the next round. It dries quickly. I apply directly to the tire, then immediately wipe the tire clean ACROSS the width of the tire. After it dries, the tire feels like it just came off the truer.

info

ok thanks guys for info and hey has anybody tried goo gone just wondering

gubbs3 11-27-2008 09:47 PM

I guy I race with uses Gojo. He also uses it as a traction compound with decent results.

I use wd-40. works great.

what I do is used two set of tires. after a round I spray them with wd-40 wipe them off and change them over to the other set. and let them rest for a round. Hope this helps.

Motor spray gets the tires drier than lighter fluid. I really would not use anything but those two. The tape works to get the surface junk off, but it does not get everything out of the tire. I would use it after cleaning with motorspray.

I'd be concerned goo gone may attack the adhesives used to laminate the layers of foam, causing the seam to split down the middle of the tire.
