the higher the c rating the better for stock/spec classes. the higher c rating batteries make all motors go faster. in stock/spec classes this is greater since you'll be going faster than your buddy with a 20c pack. in mod classes you can just switch to a faster motor if you need more speed.

WOW, this is a great thread!
I have been running the 1/8th electric conversions the past year and welcome 40C packs! Some of the motors we are using are rated at 2500 watts and lower 20C or 25C packs just don't cut it. I also hear you guys on 12AWG and Dean's Ultra-Plugs with high amp draws. In our 1/8th electric conversions we are seeing amp draws of 125A plus. I already melted the solder on my ESC using 12AWG wire and Dean's Ultra Plugs. I have now switched everything out to 10AWG (6mm) wire and 6.5mm Bullet Connectors. One of the 30C Enerland packs I received from RC Lipos actually had the 8AWG (8mm thick) wire on it but I dis-assembled the pack and replaced the 8AWG wire with 10AWG. The 8AWG wire is just too thick and heavy (I knocked off 42 grams changing just the wire....LOL ).
Since Danny and Jason are on this thread maybe you can help me with some numbers off your packs. I started a list of all available hard-cased LiPo packs in the Electric Off-Road thread. If you guys can verify the numbers, part numbers, specs and fill in some of the blanks I'd appreciated it! (like the 30C and 40C TP packs have the same part number in my list. I got these specs off various sites so my apologies if anything is incorrect)
Best regards,

Can this 40C be charged at 2c?

Yes and no. Their instructions say the following:
"NORMAL CHARGING: The charge rate should not exceed 1C*
* To charge at greater than 1C (no more than 3C): You must use a Thunder Power 1010C charger in conjunction with a Thunder Power Balancer (205 or 210) and data cable. Only ProLite 910, 1320, 2000 and 2100 cells qualify for charging up to 3C."

Here's a tip: Going to more voltage will lower your amp draw, lessening the demand for huge wire and special connectors.

Less wires the better. Also you add unneeded weight(2 hard cases instead of 1) and height(taller battery then needed) to the buggy. Makes it harder to get the battery under the body.
Us 1/8th electric guys really need a hard case 4s lipo with 10 to 12 gauge wires.
Please help us E-1/8th scale guys out.
