Default Anti Dive

I've seen a lot of setups recently with people running a bit of anti dive at the front, normally 0.5mm difference.

In real terms, what does it actually do to the handling of the car - and more importantly, what are the pro's and con's?

Sure. Note, I didn't create it, found it quite a while ago. Best alternative to this one is here. The spreadsheet is just below the picture of the S2000.

Attached is the one I use, you should only need to edit the yellow boxes.

From what I understand that's the basic definition of what a "tweaked" car is. At best it's caused by uneven spring preload, inccorrectly build shocks, sway bars with uneven lenghts or anchor points (the sway bar itself can be uneven). At worst it's caused by damaged and flexed upper and/or lower deck.

I would normally agree, but from my post a bit ago I have no shocks attached, no anti-sway bars installed. My top deck is also loose, and the lower deck definitely sits flat.

Indeed. Exactly. Measuring cornerweights with a fixed suspension will create nonsensical results. If its out by even 0.05mm the readings will be false. It doesn't matter where you put the electrics.

You can use 4 scales but you have to understand exactly what you are doing before attempting to make sense of the readings. Certainly I would not use them to attain primary left-right balance. I find this very difficult to explain in simple terms. Hopefully someone will chime in and help.

I doubt there's any tweak in your car. Like the other guy said, you can't lock out the suspension and try to scale the car, everything is too sensitive. If the chassis is flat, and not rocking, don't worry about it.

I'd be more worried if you got those numbers with the shocks on at ride height.

So here I would like a little bit of an education...

... from my exprence (and I do admit it's limited), once the left / right is correct on the scales the car always balances on the pins and drives right.

I fully believe you when you say there is no tweak but the thing is the readings on the scales are useless to you right now because of the procedure you're using.

Balance L-R FIRST (use pins) BEFORE using the scales, then use the suspension on the scales. The scales are trying to tell you primarily about the suspension preload situation but you have disconnected this.

If you know the car is balanced L-R and is straight if you're heavy on opposite corners it means you need to back off the preload in those heavy corners and the car will balance right out just like that, like magic. It doesn't mean the car is actually heavy in those corners, as you balanced it beforehand, it just means the wheel is pressing too hard there.

The readings can only make sense if the car is de-tweaked and balanced beforehand, or the readings will be a combination of tweak, unbalanced preload settings and incorrect primary L-R balance all mixed together, which is what you've got, and there's no way of telling which is which until you separate out these variables.

Hopefully someone else will chime in with a better explanation I'm useless at it
