Shock Tower

Hanulec- I just changed all the ball cups on my EVO to new standard ball cups, but I still think there is some sloop. Could it come from the balls ? Does those wear down also ?

What is your experince with this ?

The new ball cups fit very well on the st24 ball studs. On the older at21s im not sure.

Recently picked up a used A700 Evo and as such, going thru a complete tear down and rebuild.

On one of the dampers, it seems a socket cap screw was used in replacement of the button head screw normally on the top part of the damper. Could I just replace the socket cap screw with the correct screw? If so, what size/length? I understand these are sealed units, but not sure to what extent...

Anyways, the car's machine work is amazing. Easily the highest quality car I've wrenched on in all my years in the hobby.

They can back out when new in my experience. Previous owner probably lost it. If it was me I would replace that shock. But that's just my opinion

Whoops, missed that part of the manual. Still tearing down the car. The damper adjustment settings are all off too, so I'll need to reset it all and recheck dampening. Might be a good excuse to try the new dampers. This is why I rarely buy used cars...

Does anybody have trouble with the gd2 leaking I have used ae green slime on all the rings and set screws that go in the out drives and it still slings oil out of the out drives , it is only a couple weeks old

I have 2 gd2s. Neither leak. Ae 1000 and ae 2000 wt.

My gd2 leaks out of only one side? I'm not sure if it's thru the seal or the setscrew? I pulled the diff apart and put a wrench thru the output shaft so I could crank the setscrew. I'll know shortly if that fixed the leakage....
