You should to remove some material from the available holes on your chassis according to the pictures. I use the thin round needle file for this.
This modification doesn't require the precise tolerance actually.

I ran mine with diff covers indoors the first time this past week and I am happy I did. A part of the track was used that normally wasn't so my car was a fuzzy mess after each round and I wouldn't want that stuff in there.

diff
Built the new diff today..was a little tight, needed to sand the backs of the Xray sun gears a bit to free the mesh a bit..seems perfect now. I went slowly with it in small increments. I deburred the planet gears (not sure it was necessary). Here is a pic to show how far I went with the sanding (shown by grey areas) in case anyone else experiences the same. Started at 4.38mm ended at 4.28.
Its great to have that smoothness under load of the Xray diff now available in the Awesomatix. I've long felt Xray have the best diff. Maybe the NT1 metal gears will fit too.

Where is the best place to order a kit? Always have had xray. This kit very much more complicated to build? What spare parts most needed? Will be running this car in Omaha large track. Same as iic . Same carpet same. Same layout.

There's a good size group of CO drivers that will be hitting Carpet Nats next year. We're also planning a pre-race weekend around the beginning of Feb, nothing official yet.
PM me if you need any help build your kit or with setup. What classes do you currently race?

Good luck, and I am sure you will enjoy the kit!!

It may just be my driving skill but I hope I can find a few tenths with new car.

It should be short enough ( ~10,4 x 2 = ~20,8mm) for free movement in the slots after screwing of the diff's cases. This is very important!
All our test diffs are smooth without any sanding of the original gears ( ~ 4.35mm thickness). Our big washers are 0,3mm and small washers are 0,2mm in thickness.
