Travis,

Before going gung-ho on the none kit parts, you should give my setup a try that i posted a few days ago, which uses all kit parts. I did make some mods to this setup over the weekend and this week which i feel makes the car faster but maybe a touch harder to drive. The caveat is all my testing has been done on very high carpet traction. So it may not be the best but still decent on low traction.

I will check it out. I don't plan on getting the lower hubs anytime soon if at all... If I can't get the shorter ti-rods I need before I go to Southern Nats in Nashville next week I will give your setup a shot. Heck I might give it a shot anyways and see what I like better out of the 2. Thanks all for the help.

Sounds like if I take out that 1mm shim at the bottom by the ball in your setup it should be very close to the same then. However the longer links idea sounds appealing since I don't have the short ones yet! :P

Sort of, but I also have that shim in to create a little width. you can add 0,5mm shims all around to get the width back but the camber links will be a little shorter

First off thank you for your help! I just need a little clarification and hopefully I will be set.

So if I got this right, going from top down.
Front:
  • 3mm
  • 1.5mm
  • .5mm

Back:
  • 3.5mm
  • 4mm
  • .5mm

If you were to use the regular am06 instead of the am06s, the shims would be:
Front:
2
1.5
0

Rear:
2.5
4
0

w/ 0.5mm hex shims all around if you want the width.

Got it. I didn't realize you were talking about hex shims. I thought it was for everywhere else.

I am having some issues trying to make this gear diff smooth. I am using the metal gears and it can really feel each tooth when I turn it. It feels notchy if that is even a word. I have tried to rebuild it multiple times and it still doesn't seem right. Anyone else running into this or have any advise?

Did you use any shims in the diff? If so take them out, they aren't needed with the metal gears. Run in the diff a few times then change the oil. You will probably see that the oil has become silvery looking. After that it should feel smooooth....

No shims, but the car has not been ran yet. I did try break it in by running it on a stand and holding each tire at a slower speed to try to see if that helped but so far it didn't do much of anything. The first time on the track with it will be tuesday and I can't wait! Just trying to get all setup before I make the 3 hour trip to my "local" track.

Try 0.2mm gear side and 0.1mm bell side. Metal or plastic. Meshing tighter, but without binding actually makes the diff smoother especially with the metal gears.

Its quite notchy even when shimmed correctly but seems ok on the track.

I'll give that a try. The way it is now is that I can hear the gears click when I turn it. The diff doesn't get hung up or anything so maybe that is normal. I was just expecting to feel really smooth or hear nothing with how nice this car is. After I get a chance to run it maybe it will get better.
