SMC 4000/25C/3.7V single cell Hardcase pack.

One thing with the RX lipo pack....solder a resistor between the power wires...to reduce it to 6V.
Did that with mine, weight is 10 grams with small switch and its supersmall!!
Simply leave speedo (LRP) off and only switch on or plug in the RX pack.
Hmmmm strange....I only used like 40-50 maH in 8 minutes....with a Graupner DS3781 servo..pretty similar to JR 3650 I guess.
Markus
P.S.: Anyone tried any different cell than the SMC?? Heard some other companies are testing too.....

No no.....it will only let 6 volts out....nothing else will change....

Resistors are not a good idea. We used to use diodes back in the day because they have a more predictable voltage drop regardless of load. Even those were only a bandaid fix for the whole BEC problem.
By the time you spend the money setting up a proper receiver pack set-up you might as well bight the bullet and get either a NOVAK booster or one of the cheaper ones that are out there.

How did you fit the lipo in your S120? Is there any word or news about a lipo specific chassis for the S120 and being available before the IIC? Can you post a picture of your car with the lipo set up? I would really like to run my S120 at the IIC but if there is not a specific chassis, I may have to run something else.

I knew this question would come up
Ok, I ran the pack on one side...all the other stuff on the other....
It was no problem, balance was ok...I simply use doubleside tape
to fit the pack.
But....I got a proto S120L in da house...which I will test this weekend...
We actually will offer both S120 and S120L
So we are ready for both....NimH or Lipo...

Pleae keep all of us S120 racers updated on when these lipo chassis will be available. I do need a couple for the IIC which is in early September. Using doulble stick tape is fine for one time testing but when you are forced to charge using a lipo sack, then it's not very practical. We need a chassis with four slots on both sides and wide enough to support taping the battery in place.
Will you be attending the IIC this year?
I just sent you a PM

Will the single cell work OK with brushed or are they too inefficient.

I was wondering if it was possible to put the voltage booster between the battery and esc. Is this even possible. I am thinking about buying the yeah racing esc and brainless brushless motor as it is cheap. However it says that it only supports 2-3 cell lipo. Is it still possible to run 1 cell lipo.
Thanks in advance

Good news guys.
I found a cheap brushless motor set up that has an adjustable voltage cut off as low as 2.6V. It is the Yeah racing esc that retails around $100, but the only downside is that it is not sensored. Oh well it comes with a program card and all the features are controlled from there.
Here is a link to check the stats for yourself: http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/rc-bru...cPath=293_1301
P.S. In no way am i suggesting to go there and buy it. They just have a comprehensive list of details about the motor and esc!
