Glad to hear you like the single cell and by the way these packs are selling it seems that many feel the same way. Were having a tough time keeping them in stock.

To keep the cost down the cells would have to be done using the winding method but this would increase the IR.
Just a thought, but since the pack is so light, what about spacing the cell up above the t-bar so it can move. Similar to the original Corally 12M that you could put a 6 cell stick pack in the car going above the T-Bar.

Just a thought.

I just got my set of battery and booster from lefthanderrc the smc 4000mah 3.7v and the TQ booster for my 1/12 scale car. I loved the speed and handling I am running a 13.5 hacker and a lrp spx esc I found that this is a good combo, the car run for ten min. and there was no problem with the servo , receiver or transponder.

Quick question about the voltage boosters, from the sales pitch on the novak it says you can run the same esc, receiver and servo as you normally would with 2S/4-6cell. So does the booster increase the voltage the esc runs at or just the receiver and servo?

I know my esc runs fine at just over 4 volts but i tested it the other day with a pack that was at 3.8 volts and the light came on and went off again straight away but the servo still worked, i dont have a variable power supply to test the range accurately but if my esc is only working of the 1S lipo (4.2/4.3 when peaked) voltage i might be a bit short of making a full run. Comments, please

Conrad,

When you run the speed control with the switch on and no booster or receiver pack, the speed control's "brain" runs at the voltage of the main battery.

When you run a booster or receiver pack, you leave the speed control switch OFF and the speed control gets its power from the receiver, so its brain runs at the voltage of the booster or receiver pack.

The LHS got some of the SMC single cell packs in yesterday, and sold them all within hours. The Novak Smart Boost is back-ordered as you all know.

I have a 12R5 with a Novak 4-cell GTB, Spektrum micro receiver, and Futaba 9665 servo.

Would it work to plug in the e-flite battery for the CX-2 into the battery slot of the receiver? Since the car is underweight anyway, this battery could be placed on top of the SMC pack. The e-flite pack has the right connector on it, and I have a balancing charger for it already.

That's how we all run them here...lipo plugged straight into the receiver. Be sure to keep the switch on the ESC turned off, and use the receiver pack to power the car on/off.

I know it's ugly but turning the pack sideways and on one side with the ESC and receiver to the other will yield a better balanced car. Taking 5oz off the back of the chassis is huge on a link car.

Has anyone tried putting in a faster motor say 4.5 or 3.5? What kind of pinion/spur gearing and time can you get?

Cheers.

Dan,

Just ordered 6 packs from stormer. Can you let me know roughly how much run time will I get from the packs with a 4.5R motor?

Also I am currently running 21/100 gear for my 4.5 with 4 cell, what would be the new pinion/spur I should try with the 1cell lipo?

Cheers. Can't wait to get my hands on them.
