Getting an X12 17.5t for my TC6.1. What FDR should I run for 17.5 boosted? The track is fairly small 80x30. Also any suggestion for esc set up (using Tekin RS Pro)?

Unfortunately that's at conflict with getting maximum power, which makes the motor hot.
Keep it at 100degC or below (measured externally) and the X12 will be fine. I'd be suprised if you can get it that hot with a 2wd buggy anyway, so it's not likely to be a big issue.

Ideal temperature would be 0 Kelvin, as then the wire would have no resistance and the bearings would have no friction. Since that isn't possible, you just want it as cold as possible for maximum efficiency.

So I ran my 17.5 yesterday. Ran real strong and barely got warm after each packs (40 mins rest between each pack). Don't know what happened..., but while driving 3 mins in, the car felt strange, almost as if there was no brakes. So I kept going for maybe another 2 mins, before finally decided to pull the car in. That's when I noticed the motor was extremely hot!!! Tested it again today, motor seems to run fine but braking feels weak. Anyone know what I may possibly screwed up and might have to replace to fix this problem?

Also I notice a humming squeaking noise when braking hard, is this normal?

Check bearings and if the rotor is shimmed ok(to little play).
This happends even with new motors(bad shimming)
The LRP X12 motors need there bearings lubed rather often
Weak brakes on a X12 point to a rotor being to hot.
You also loose power in the lower rpm range.
If this is the case, you have to replace the rotor to get brakes and power back.

This does sometimes happen on the X12, my 10.5 did it last year and I know of others it's happened to. You can superglue the magnet to the shaft, or just buy a new rotor.

Thanks for the reply guys. I'll try replacing the rotor this weekend and hopefully this solves the problem. Is there an upgraded rotor for 17.5t (like a rotor for more rpm or torque)?

Sorry to bring this thread back up but I got a few problems with a LRP Vector X-12 motor 13.5
What is the average operating temps for these things?
I can not get the damn temp under 180.
I have gone from a 30/69 gearing to 26/72 gearing.
It's killing me. I want it a little cooler if possible.. Do these motors like to be ran hot? It doesn't seem to be effecting power at 180 but I would rather not smoke this motor I just got it.
thanks for any help
Setup is a B4.1 Buggy with a Viper VTX10 ESC in blinky mode stock timing on the motor. Current gearing is 26/72 came off the track after 5 min at 178.
I am going to try a high Spur tomorrow. and see what happens

X12 runs hotter than all other motors. If you apply the temp limits of other conventional motors, you're going to be slow. X12 doesn't come alive until 160. 180 is more than fine, it's about perfect. Instruction sheet says it's good up to 210*F. Believe it. Only motor I know of that can easily go hotter than the instruction sheet and live.

my manual that came with it says 160 degs and to stay at a 7 FDR
I have tested 7, 7.5, 5, 6, al all in between
I guess I will just leave it where it is at then
thanks
