reedy KR problems

Hi

I recently bought a reedy KR 11*2 motor. It was very fast the first time then I used the comm on it. Still very fast. But suddenly it not fast at all longer. What can this be? Some friend of mine have the same prob. Could it be the springs are gone bad or? Anyone else have problems with this motor. Maybe someone could tell me a good timing and drive ratio for KR 11*2 for outdoorracing and indoorracing

How many runs are you going between cuts and brush changes?

sturla 09-30-2003 01:18 PM

I`ve been using the comm and changed brushes after 2 or max 3 runs

Try 16* timing, purple springs, then either low or medium silver brushes like the enduro or sprint compound from peak/orion. You need to gear the Kr 1-2 teeth lower then other motors like the D5 and Ti.

What timing are you running then? The Kr's don't like as much as the Ti cans (or just about any other mod) used to. I run 14-18 degrees max on mine. Also, this thread: http://www.rctech.net/forum/showthre...ighlight=Reedy may be of some use to you.

I don`t think I have more than 7-10 in timing... maybe less. Thanks for the link I will cheak it out:)

check to make sure a magnet did not come loose, i have see a few with that has happend

what kind of spring is orginal? Seems a bot odd compered to other engines

sturla 09-30-2003 01:58 PM

the original springs seems a bit.......

Use Trinity purple springs, the Reedy coppers that come with it are far too soft for the motor.

guyz,

would appreciate if any1 could let me know the following on a Kr 8x1 mod:-

1) recommended final ratio for TC
2) recommended timing.

thanks... appreciate it..

Ratio depends on your track. Start 2-3 teeth lower than what you would run for any other 8. For timing, very low, 12-15 degrees max.

i also have seen a few KS's that had problems with the magnets. they just came loose after a few runs. it was quite disappointing.

With the D5 and Kr, i have found that these motors prefer to have the springs changed with every 10 to 15 runs, max. or better yet with every brush change... this will keep the motors original performance.

Also, RC PAPERBOY is right, you can use trinity's purple springs, they work better... :D

If your brush wears out 2 to 3 runs, im guessing, too much arc, the brushes jump bec the springs lost thier tension already... As a stop gap solution, try re-bending the springs for the moment, although changinmg them is the best option.

1. 8.65 to 9.35 (approximately) what's the size of the track you run on?

2. stock timing to 20 degrees, although, i went as high as 30 degree on mine, but could never make run time... (5 mins) but the power was AWESOME! :D ;)
