The only real difference in the 008 & 009 is that the 009 comes with all the lightweight stuff alrdy and with the 008 its an option. Also with the 009, if you buy the option top deck and belts you can shift the motor mount a little more forward in the chassis.

What are the springs in the 009 kit, how do I identify them?

Anyone know if and when Xray might be offering upgrade aluminum parts in orange any time soon. Mainly steering knuckles.

I spoke with XRAY and they are making an official announcement about the optional aluminum parts in different colors in January.

Shift the motor forward?? Was this option created for lipo use to remove weight from the left rear or is it just to center the weight more and does it affect electronics layout? How far is the movement and does it completly change the layshaft location and lengthen the rear belt?

I read somewhere here that xray will be releasing new belts so that you can use the motor in the forward position. For now you'll have to use the original position...

I think it will help with 5 cell racing more than with lipo, perhaps to centre the weight on the left side compared to the right side. It will obviously mean there is slightly less room for the electrics between the motor and servo.

I'm not sure of the exact measurement but from the picture posted above you can see it looks to be between 2-4mm. The kit to move it forwards will more than likely include a shorter topdeck + front belt and a longer rear deck + rear belt.

When removing the front motormount screw I would suggest replacing it with a grubscrew (threadlocked in) otherwise you risk bending the motormount in a crash. Also if the motormount flexes, obviously your gear mesh will change, and you may end up stripping a spur gear.

Looks from the picture like moving that motor mount will allow different spur/pinion combinations.

The current setup with the motor mounting holes each side doesn't allow a large number of pinions to be used with any one spur.

2.6 & 2.8

Both have the number engraved in VERY small writing at one end.

Guess I've never hit anything that hard, good point though.

I still have my 008, it's a great car. On the track sometimes I forget which chassis is under the lexan.

Not sure if I have or not lol, the main reason I have done it is to keep the gear mesh consistant.
