Motor Lathe
 

Hey there i just got a ? on the motor lathe. I just bought a new one and im not sure how to use it. Dose anyone have pics or maybe a realy good how to for me?

Follow the instructions that came with your lathe. I use the carbon bit on mine but make sure you keep it sharp. I use a permanent marker and cover the com area you are cutting. Take very little cuts and remove only what you have too. Keep using the marker before each cut. Other than that, just take your time and it should come out OK. Hope this helps.

do i have to take the motor all apart? how much do i have to shave off? Will i notice a diiference in performance?

You just need the armature of your motor. Put the armature on the lathe, turn the lathe on and color the whole comm with a black sharpie. Make very shallow passes. You will notice a difference in performance if you cut it right. Also remember to put new brushes on every time you cut the motor.
