What's funny is that they still have "NEW" flashing next to the '008 banner

Sorry for the confusion. I was trying to prove the point that a car with the batts up the gut can still have a reasonably low CG.

Of course! T2009 is not released yet

Just saw on another site the new 416 world edition. I lost count on how many kits Tamiya released AGAIN this year!!!

Xray releases 1 kit per YEAR, for electric is around November (since 2 years ago), for other kits it's different period. Good thing is that they don;t give any updates during this period, apart from an upper deck usually and alloy shocks. This year only they produced more optional which most likely will be in the new kit anyway
Also, it's the only company that provides conversion kits from previous models to new ones.

Ok guys, here's the chair. You can even chose your color, now you can match it to your new 009.

With the new Tamiya, it's just a 416 configured slightly different. Spool instead of a one-way, short arms instead of long. I think there are slight revisions to the motor mount, battery position and top deck, but everything else uses existing parts. It's still a new car, that's true, but it's really just a new configuration with a couple of updated parts thrown in. Anybody with a 416 could buy those parts individually for their existing cars if they felt compelled to do so. It seems most of them are specific to asphalt racing anyway, so it wouldn't necessarily be any benefit if you're racing carpet.

XRay is likely releasing an entirely new car with a ton of new part numbers. Tamiya is releasing the same car with the optional parts (short arms) that were found to be faster included in the kit. I think there's a pretty distinct difference there.
