Nice lookin Lotus! I love the details. I watched one of these run at the Tamiya track last weekend. It looked awesome on the track. I can't wait to see a heard of them circulating.

Default Lotus VF1

Thanks for the comments. I started following F1 in the early '60's mostly in magazines. Much more interesting and fun "back in the day" IMHO!

We live just a few miles from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. They have an awesome museum there if you ever get to visit. Its open 364 days I year I think and its only $4 to enter.

We go about once a year. Usually a cold rainy day with nothing else going on. Jim Clark's Lotus there is one of my favorite cars. That thing is perfection on wheels IMO.

Please post a video of the VF1 car in action if you can.

Don't forget that HPI also makes some other vintage wheels that might look good on an F1 - such as these (http://www.hpiracing.com/products/en/33472/)

Fantastic work Cant wait to see a video. Hopefully this class with catch on since it's really great looking, maybe this is what it would take to get my old man behind a transmitter

Let's see how long it will take for someone to paint this body black&orange with purple flames

aarcobra, what material did you use to make the extensions on the carburetor intakes? I like how you accomplished that!

BTW if you want to go really scale, I would make an allround independent suspension with smaller diameter shocks attached directly to the arms (TC style). I did this with my F1 project without bigger problems, then in the second evolution hidden them in the body like modern cars. The shocks weren't hidden in the body back in those days.
This obviously can't be used on F103s and F104s and other pan cars but it can on other cars, just use your imagination....

Is the Lotus the same as the VF1 Charles Ligthfoot is running?

Good idea Mike,

I'm sort of worried about the tire degradation after the UF1 WCRC race on my I/10 car

The material is Plastruct styrene from the hobby shop, 1/4" tube. I cut it to length and gooped it to the engine and the top piece.

That is what the tail pipes are made from also.

Have fun!

That would be a neat project! I hope to run the car (maybe someday with other similar cars) so I think I need to keep it close enough to the rules just in case.

I'm working on an 1/8th scale Gurney Eagle the will be more like what you have in mind.

As far as the front suspension design, actually many of the sixties era F1 cars had internal coilovers operated by an upper rocker arm. THis includes the Lotus and Eagle cars. I'm waiting for a front end that appears to have a slim upper are that I hope will look even better.
