I got a GDP Gonzo body out of Switzerland. Been seeing this body on top step of podium all summer in Europe so I got one to try out, Gonzo is a member of my FB page so it wasn't hard to get a hold of one. I have it only pre fitted to my SP1 for now but should be done over weekend. Going with a Tyrell 1989 livery

I have seen some guys who used to run lead weight mounted up on the side dams of the rear wing in low traction.

Spent almost 8 hours testing on CRC carpet yesterday. RobK you were correct in that the Serpent wing was the fastest and best out of PF,AE and Serpent. it is very flimsy though . i raised it up 2mm and it was even better but still would drag on one side before the end of the run. so today i am going to machine a spacer to raise it 3mm and some sort of thin carbon brace to keep the wing from falling down the sides.
My 2017 rear wing was also very good, granted i did not do a back to back test. It was very balanced with the Serpent wing, pushed really bad with the PF wing and held up well i had many high speed and low speed traction rolls and it did not break, so that was nice.
Fastest tires for me were the TCS on tamiya wheels. The CRC were also good but did not have quite the steering as the TCS.

Funny , i really did not have to change much from my asphalt setup which i wasnt expecting?? changed to a roller rear dif, decreased castor, harder front springs and softer side springs. within a few packs i was able to match the locals fast laps even though i was way over geared and car was slow on the infield. could only run for about 5 minutes or so and the motor was getting around 180.

I've noticed almost all these new gen motors like a fan and a higher rollout to run decent power and temps. For instance my mcode mc2 25.5 likes a 3.18 fdr on a medium high grip crc back carpet track, with a fan. Comes off happy at 135 every run. I guess something about the lower resistance motors they like to rev even with high Gauss rotors .

I also like the f104j tamiya front wing. It's much narrower, and real stiff yet durable. Absolutely no drag and works great on high grip.

Where are you guys gettingg the tamiya tcs tires? Part numbers? Wanna try them on high grip.

I have one mounted, but haven't painted the body fit to it. I should be able to test this week.

For tires:

Tamiya TCS = CRC = Shumacher = Pit Shimizu 571/572. The difference is the stiffness of the rim as the wheels are unique to each brand. The TCS and Pits on Tamiya foam rims would be the same.
Antimullet and CFRacing like this.

Wanted to share a happy weekend
Won my first race with my WRC f-one 016 against a couple of xray's and a serpent - it was only the 4th F1-race in my life!
We ran two finals, starting grid was oposite of club championship standing (after 3 races)
Finished P1 + P2 = P1 for this day
My car was easy to drive, very stable on the straights and easy to pull the trigger out of the corner early. At the same time it was still pushing too much through the corner off throttle and a little out of the corner on throttle.

Setup (asphalt):
Tires I ran Ride GR (no heating, no treatment) - obligatory.
1.5 camber, 2 toe out on each side, caster 6
Used 10k cst on side damper, side springs and front springs.
Center shock was 388cst (Associated) and RSD teal green spring (long, soft).
side springs: Tamiya copper (very soft)
front springs: Tamiya silver (soft)
