I'd like you to ask you all something and please don't kill me but....why no indycar love? More specifically why no indycar liveries? I understand that in 1:1 scale they are completely different beasts but externally they "look" very similar. I understand the intention of F1 was the scale realism but how cool would be it be also include indycar bodies/liveries into the mix? Or am I just crazy to even think this?

There is a decent modern Indycar body made by Mcallister and I believe a Japanese company may have made a highly detailed one as well. I think the main body difference that the modern Indycar body has almost enclosed rear wheels with wider wings and the F1 car is still fully "open" wheeled. Personally, I love Indycar racing but the latest aero package has an identity problem.

You're not crazy...in the 90's Tamiya had a nice Indy car chassis (f103L) with a Lola body and authentic liveries.

For those who are looking for something a little different... And a lot less expensive than Xray.

I think its a conversion kit for the F103 actually. Looks cool, but for me T-Bar is still great!

Yes, this is a conversion kit for the F103. There are a few top guns in Japan that are running this chassis and doing really well with it.

You could purchase this chassis and have it shipped to your place. You'll have to do a little digging to find it out. If not, let me know.

No indycar body, but an old indycar livery on my crc. I'd love to get my hands on the old 93' Lola body and wings for a decent price.

Whats the deal with races changing this class to 25.5???

Are they trying to kill this class?

Making people constantly switch motors is a class killer. We only just weaned the last few guys off of silver can.

And in Europe they are letting guys run 1S 13.5

Also there are not any ROAR approved 25.5 motors so you will have a WYE/Delta issue at the very least

Yeah, let's divide and kill this class so novice guys can "race" a two wheel drive car.

how about gyro's let's do that too, that would make is easier to drive.

Apparently the powers that be feel 21.5 is too much motor for the average racer to handle in an F1 car and that has discouraged that average racer from participating.

I know the intention is good and those same powers that be absolutely love F1 cars and really want the class to grow.
It looks as though it has a good chance to do just that with TQ Raceway and Tamiya's TCS races already agreeing to make the change.

Looks like we'll have to see how that works out.

Personally I'd like to see 200mm F1 cars on foams with unlimited motors, choose wisely Grasshopper.

Maybe F1 cars aren't for the "average" racer? I say stick with 21.5 motors. If they're too much for some people, then turn the throttle EPA down to about 80%, making them the equivalent of a 25.5 motor. As they get better, they can turn it up. Doesn't cost a dime to adjust the radio settings.

Agreed on the "ROAR" 25.5 motor bit, there is no ROAR approved 25.5 list. Unless they spec a motor (like USVTA), there'll be motor wars. Note that ROAR "VTA" is non-existent around the country, USVTA is dominant partly because of the motor parity.

And don't get me started on 1S 13.5 motor rules. If THAT happens, I'll just shelve my F1 cars and use the 2S 21.5 motors and escs for USGT.

Leave F1 alone!!!

Just my humble opinions of course.

Can't stop the change now, it's done.

At best, if it doesn't go as planned, we can all go back and run our 21.5's again.

It only takes 4 to start a class at most clubs

I do however get the feeling that it's gonna work, at least around here because the racers that have already been supporting F1 seem to have accepted the change and will continue to race our favorite cars.

Hopefully it will attract many more F1 racers and the class will once again take off and have full heats like the not so distant past.

UF1 format anyone?
Let's race all day and not qualify all day.
Just sayin, again

Craig,

Are they going to "open" 25.5 motors or are they specifying a motor?

For the USVTA F1 championship, the rules are already set for the 2015/2016 points year (started Aug. 1st) and they are 21.5 ROAR or a NOVAK 25.5 motor. If the track wants to go to 25.5 motors, they have to use the NOVAK motor ONLY in order to be eligible for USVTA F1 points.

So I'm sticking to 21.5 for at least another year. The tracks where I race F1 are going with the 21.5 motors w/25.5 allowed per USVTA F1 rules.
