Amazing race , amazing comeback , well worth the watch, but VERY sad that the winning driver that made the incredible last lap pass was ROBBED of the victory after the race. He waited and to let him back by after the first pass wasn't clean, then three turns later he made the winning pass on he inside, the leading car shot wide leaving the inside clear for an amazing pass. The outside car tried to shut the door causing contact which slightly upset both cars for a "tenth" . ROAR wrongly took the victory from the true winner.

The first incident was clearly the black car going wide and its back end stepped out when more turn in was initiated. If the black car had run the same line it had for the previous 7 minutes, the result would have been different. Not to say the same though as the silver car was showing a far better balance at that point of the race. The silver car allows the black car thru and again the black car went wide, then the silver car went for the inside move but was swipped by the black car turning in violently, Schumacheresque indeed. The silver car should not have been penalized. Very sad result.

Sorry black car, great drive but your handling went away compared to the silver car......

Yes, the handling did go away so I slowed down and held a tight line. And yes, Kodys car was better at the end of the race, but you still have to make a clean pass. He hit my car half way down the chute, not at the corner...front wing on rear tire. Had he been farther up the side of my car that would have been a different story.

Keep watching and he throws it in again right before the start/finish line.

It was a racing incident that could have been avoided. I've said this before and I'll say it again, Kody drove a great race. Heck, I even stood up for him when he and I heard what the ORIGINAL penalty was going to be! Just one of those things...

So all this talk about parking lot racing and scale realism made me think back to when I got into all of this.
Here are some pics of the original series we ran here in Detroit from 1990-99
These are some of the earlier years, I think 1991 to be exact.
Back then you had a choice of 2 or 3 chassis, no different bodies whatsoever, and it usually took 5-10 decal sheets to do one body
Enjoy

I cant take any credit for the paint work on those, it was back when I scrapped a lot of bodies and was more worried about the performance of the car.
It was still a lot of fun though

I actually ment their solution to the FIA ban on two different liveries: having two different halves on each car, but both cars being identical as per regs.

Re the ROAR concours: I think that we're mainly dealing with is different interpretations of what a concours is. Both interpretations (best scale model vs best paint-job) are equally valid, but with potentially different results, and judges need a different mindset for each. Unless is was clearly stated what sort of concours is was, all assumptions as to the sort of concours are just that, assumptions. The judges were, apparently, judging a paint-job concours. Chalk one up for lessons learned.
