The well established companies (HPI/Tamiya/etc.) use good materials and are durable enough. But the wheels are not protected by a body, and therefore not what you would call "basher friendly". It has a parallel to full scale racing. NASCAR cars can take a tap and a nudge now and again. While F1 and Indy leagues do not use the phrase "rubbing is racing". You will find that most of the RC F1 racers have respect for this as well.

Remember the early Corallys?
The SY Racing F100 comes with a fibreglass T-piece, everyone just shows the same prototype pics with the alloy one.
Had one in my hands last year that was bought direct from the factory, it is a direct copy of the F104 and all parts are interchangeable so unlikely to see it for sale anywhere but China. Not surprisingly quite a bit heavier than the F104 and would be a cheap way to get started, but you will soon be replacing the plastic parts with F104 parts.
