So I got real bored and started to think, they say a real F1 car can produce enough downforce to drive upside down at 108mph!

So I was thinking to myself well how fast would a 1/10th F1 have to go to produce enough downforce to do the same?

So going off this formula
D = 1/2 x (W/S x H x AoA) x F x p x V2

I figured these numbers out based on the F1 aero tests the Japanese did in that wind tunnel (page 300 of F104 Pro thread).

These numbers are based on a TRG Advance Rear Wing as a single aerofoil, they do no include the front wing, diffuser, although this is just a bit of fun and not to be taken too seriously.. Y'know plastic wings, flexing, vortices etc. etc.. would essentially make this a load of bull shit in the real world but here goes..

rear wing 149g @ 30mph
rear wing 600g @ 60mph
rear wing 1060g @ 80mph
rear wing 1340g @ 90mph
rear wing 8050g @ 220mph

car weight 1060g stationary

So i'm guessing about 85-120mph is the golden zone to drive upside down with an F103 using TRG wings.

Now who has a tunnel and a brave driver?

lol.. I am sad..

I have some 5mm pivot balls from associated but they are WAY too tight when popped in, are the Tamiya ones extremely tight or is there something I'm missing about the measurement of the Tamiya ones?
Ken,
I didnt forget about you, had a crazy week at work. I have the inner pivot balls, will ship you enough for your car.

Noticing KO Propo has a mini-z module, so it's AM since the receiver onboard is AM? I still have some high end radios with detachable module at home including the KO Mars. Wondering if the KO mini z module will work with EX-1 Mars.
From your link it looks like AM band (pic of the crystal). Any AM radio with matching freq. should work. KO Propo sold AM modules for its radios that have a module (helios, ur1, mars).

Look here for more details.

The Gate in ohio hosted the 1st hangover bash race jan 1st and here are some pics from the race.

My F-104 pro

The start of the main.

Mrod's pile of a F104-X1

Some other guy who was just there hanging out. I think he goes by Dish on here. lol

From Left to right. Mrod, Dasmopar, Dish, Das1/8racer aka my dad, nrtv20, BP shadow, I cn't remember this guys name for the life of me. Sorry. and then Dave Berry aka all4fun

I had a good time but it was not my best race thats forsure. I think Mrod won, then Dish, then Dave. I was done after the 2nd or 3rd lap and my dad was done before me so the Dasmopar's had a short race. We'll get em next time.

That was a good time, the drive home sucked, but the race was great.
I was holding down third until the second to last lap and I hooked a board and Dave snuck by me. Oh well, still had a great time

The F1 Posse rides again. Big F1 day for us in Texas today. Great racing. 7 on track, more in the pits. F104 boxes all over the place.

L to R
F104W
F103.5 Narrow
FGX
Exotek F1R
Exotek F104W
Corraly
F109

Racer Robert and his F103.5 took the top spot.
