Default Com Chipping

The comms on a couple of my motors are chipping, what causes this?
Exsesive heat? Not cut often enough? to light/heavy of brushes?

As the com gets smaller you might run into a problem with them chipping. I am going to guess that it is by the slots seperating the segments, if so you might as well as get a new one.

Yeah, it’s probably just age but if the comms are relatively new and are chipping while you are cutting them, it could also mean your lathe bit is too dull.
