I got my 3.7V 6300MAH 95A constant pack TODAY!!!
I won't be doing any 1:12 testing soon, but I will test 1:10 Oval with a 13.5 Motor this weekend. The 6300mah pack does fit into my CRC 3.2 by the slimist margin. The PCB terminal board for the solder tabs added an unexpected 1mm to the length of the pack. I will be testing the 3.7V with the $5 5V modual and no RX pack unless glitching occurs becuase of the 1.5A max current of the modual. In which case I have a 4.8V 900mah AAA RX pack that will use.
The pack came as a 11.1V 2100 pack, and I rewired the pack into 3.7V 6300 (DO NOT ATTEMPT UNLESS AWARE OF THE DANGERS OF LIPO FIRES!) I would have gone with the SMC pack, but I was under the impression when I placed my order the day before the Order Now announcement from SMC that the packs were still not ready. The hassle of taking apart a LiPO pack was enough to discourage me from ever doing that again. I would compare the disassembly process to being about as risking as the time I had to drive through a UXO and Mine field in Iraq or when I pulled the pin on a gerande. But I saved about $40 in the process and my nerves are still good . The individual 2100 cells are $20 a piece, and another $30 to assembley from BatterySpace.Com.
The battery had a PCB terminal board for soldering the copper tabs. I strongly reccommend that for any future rules concerning 3.7V batteries to require a PCB terminal board to protect the battery from impacts and abuse. My PCB was designed for 11.1V volt, but once I inverted the middle cell and folded the tab the opposite direction, the PCB board worked perfectly for 3.7V. This saved me a trip to Radioshack for a project board.

Well.. I'm no expert but, 21.5 is a crawler motor. I use am outrunner motor myself . It's a Gust 1100k/V motor. As far as windings, I cant imagine needing any high amp draw applications for such a high wind and perhaps if more winds were necessary , they should use smaller guage wire. Maybe we should just use 540J Mabichi's.

There is a difference between the pro 21.5 and crawler 21.5. I'm not sure what exaxctly it is, but a crawler motor must be used with a crawler esc for proper operation. It might have something to do with the drag brake. I run brushed in my crawler, so I'm not into all the details.

Crawlers.. hmm,, I'm currently working on something special for us rocky horrer guys. Very trick and brushless powered, but not necessarily just so. Hope to have something available soon!

Sanyo got out of making the cells we use for toy cars because we are only a fraction of a percentage point of the market for those cells. Now that industry has stopped using them for cordless drills and hand held vaccuums, the need for Ni-Mh cells is not worth it for them to make the cells just for us.
Mikita... Millwaukee... Craftsman... were the big purchasers of sub "C" cells and are no longer wanted by them. It's all about Li-Po's now ....And soon, something else... Get used to it and get over it! 7.4v is too much juice for the average racer in 1/12, almost with any motor. We need to use what cells are mainstream or the quality and cost will be compromised. BIG TIME!
Just buy one pack ,,, single cell lipo and be done with it. Ah'ite!?

gotta friend who will be testing that 1cell lipo deal. see how that goes. if i wasnt pondering a race myself, i'd prolly go watch. curious times for 12. or any1 class on foams, as most associated a higher tire bill with foam over rubber. granted i've always been an advocate for harder tires anyway. sadly that ship has sailed.

Not fussed about the LiPo bit, but brushless and Rubber tyres could work good. I would n't mind getting a set of rubber tyres for my 12th car and seeing how they go. Our local club runs a Winter Series on a large carpet and the grip levels only get to about a 'moderate' level, so may not be good there, but at a National were the grip level is 'High', they could work good! We'll see. Cheers, Chris.
