Got back from racing just a bit ago and I can definitely tell you that having an energy drink or two has no effect on my driving. I can also tell you that having one too many brews can really screw with your championship hopes.

I was at our Regionals last year and this guy was popping different vitamins. He said it helped with hand-eye-coordination and with a calm relaxing feeling on the stand. Don't know what vitamins they were but.....probably some sort of downers I'd guess.
As for caffeine....I always have a soda or something while racing. Never crossed my mind if it was hurting me or helping me. Maybe I should try the test sometime?

Well, I made the A main friday night without caffiene..... and an ill set up car (loose back end)...

I did have a few cigarettes though. The car felt really planted in the main now that the ride height and shock angle were adjusted...

So,was it that I had too many cig's when I wrecked in the main...

Or was that just the pressure of being in the A?

Or did I have more turn in than before?

who knows...

I dropped 4 seconds a lap (!!!) after eating a packet of MSG laden noodles. I just couldn't drive straight. I only got my pace back after I broke the car and glued it back together for the last leg of the final.
