Pretty cool. Looks like the buggy.

reenmachine 10-05-2008 09:09 PM

What's up with it? Is it a new release? This could be the ultimate dirty-road basher I've been waiting for...

Tommi Makkinen 10-05-2008 09:24 PM

hmm... shortened suspension arms and dogbones... retrofitted body posts and bumpers... a rally car body...

I LIKE!!!

maybe tamiya should really go serious with this and have this replace the buggy class in the Tamiya Championship series...

Sweet. That would be cool if rc rally racing became big in the U.S. I may have to pick one of these up to play around with in the neighborhood. Wonder if it comes with a shell to cover the electronics?

academygaz 10-16-2008 12:04 PM

Yes, the classic Subaru Impreza.

I used to have one of the Tamiya Porsche 959's in the 1980's. This totally reminds me of that.

Just to clarify, "Full Option" is how Tamiya tend to show the cars when they have fitted all the available option parts to it. Not likely to be an official release (but don't discount an R or MS version if this platform becomes popular).

Doesn't appear to be an inner body on that Impreza, which may or may not be because it is a pre-production car, however a Dark Impact shell could well fit under there.

An interesting and unexpected release! Should be a very capable rally car, something the TT01 never was.

Yeah, I'm psyched on it. I can only run my on-road cars on the streets by my house for a few minutes before junk starts grinding in the geartrain and a buggy on the street doesn't handle well. This looks like the perfect compromise, and it'll also be a riot to run on moderate dirt lots.

I'll be getting one, and it'll probably end up getting more miles on it than any of my other cars. Just plain fun.

finally a car for all terrain. looks good for bashing. I can put my Tb02 rally away:blush:. When it will be on market?

Yup, I emailed Tamiya about the Full Option and they said it was just a show car with all the available options and will not be an actual release.

Great News. That just goes to show R/C goes in cycles. Rally cars were very popular in the Mid/late 90's. Associated TC3 conversion Hpi Rs4, Tamiya, and Losi rally weapon were the main players then, it would be nice to see these type of cars come back.

I hope the other makes will also release rally cars, for df-3ra not be so "lonely"!

i dig this car. presumably, the df-03 slipper will work on it. i also hope we see other brands making rally cars. bring back the rs4 rally.
