What do racers look for in a track?

good layout! Square layout not all zig zaged. 10 foot lanes. this is my number one thing

If you can figure out what racers want in a track, let me know.
One of my jobs as a race co-ordinator to to design our clubs track. Mini guys want one thing, 12th scale another, beginner and more experiences racers want other things.
So, I hear all of it, and then build the track I want to build.
Allow for some good speed, but have technical sections, too. Say, one good straight, and a twisty back section? Last weeks track had almost no straight sections, and everything was on a diagonal. Very cool.

The people. I want to be at a track where I know when I ask questions I'm not going to be laughed at or shunned. A track where the Clicks are low if not present at all. A track where if you don't spend a ton of cash you are looked down at. Lastly, a track where if you aren't a big time racer you are treated just like the Big Guys.

Physically in the track itself:
Rounded corners not a square edge unless its a flapper of course

The first thing is atmosphere. Tracks that have too many cliques are no fun unless you are part of the clique. There's way too much of that in this hobby. If new people always feel like outsiders, they won't come back after a while.
Clean, well lit pits and good parts supply are next.
Unless it's just silly, I don't really care about the layout as long as its clean and the lanes are wide enough to allow racing. You're never going to make everyone happy with any layout.

1) Nice, well lit pit area

3) Nearby, well kept hobby shop
4) Nice, smooth track

I can say that 360 is one of the best tracks around.. here's why..
1. Great atmosphere
2. awesome drivers. (2 national champs race there one is part owner)
3. Great Lighting
4. track has great carpet and asphalt
5. layouts always flow well
6. Hobby store supports many chassis'
7. Pit's are clean and spacious

For me I would look for this in a track:
-Friendly people to give you tips, and just to talk to you about what ever you want
-A well ran track program
-Having a good number of people racing in a class (none of that 5 differnt classes for one type of car)
-depending on the track a nice pit area that has a lot of room to move around
-having a few fast guys in the class you want to race with is a good thing as well, as there is no fun in racing with rookie drivers when your skill level is high up.
**it's not that I don't want to race the rookies, it is that I would rather race with other guys of my skill level, although I will help new people out with how to drive when at the local tracks.
-Having a fun layout that allows the fast guys to have fun, but yet having the track easy enough for less skilled drivers to get through the track.
-If the track has a hobby shop or mini shop (parts store) then that is always a good thing.
As for the track layout, I love technical sections, as they are really fun, and they make the racing fun as you need to run the right line to be fast (off-road has more technical area's then on-road tracks (as in adding differnt jumps in to the layout), but all I really care about is that the track is fun, with a good number of racers to race. So as long as I can race with other people I really don't care what the layout is like. However I do like when the drivers stand is about 3 feet off the ground or higher.

Man, I really appreciate the input. The one that is difficult is the hobby shop. Our track itself is nice. Good traction and layout. Our facility is big and well lit. And everyone that has raced says they enjoy the guys that race there.
But the hobby shop is tough as distributors are hard to deal with and get in with.
I all thankful about the comments about a smooth layout. Is there such a thing as too big of a layout?

One thing I've noticed is that not one person mentioned entry fee prices!
