64p steel pinions

Where can i find 64p steel pinions? I fould only alloy :(

just curious.....why do you need 64 pitch steel pinions?

The RW Racing pinions are made of steel.

Because they NEVER wear out, always run smooth and the weight make ZERO diffrence.

I have a set of RW Racing steel pinions that are 4 years old and are perfect. I will never run another pinion.

Why go steel? Better for the motor if it is alloy

Robinson's are ti-nitride coated but that wears off really fast exposing the plain steel. RW steel gears are flame hardened and although the color from the hardening can wear off the steel undeneath is still rock hard (63 Rockwell).

Theoretically the motor would work harder to spin up and slow down the mass of the steel pinion but the diffrence in weight is just a few grams. I challenge anyone to show me a measurable speed or lap time advantage due to light pinions. What you do gain is gears that last forever, mesh perfectly for years and thus never chew up spur gears.

I like steel pinions for the durability as well...but living in a high humidity area I've had lots of problems with them rusting.

You know...thats funny. I live in Florida and I have never had a single screw or steel part on any car rust. But...I let a guy borrow my DB10R for a few weeks and all the screws got rusty! I keep all my car stuff inside...not in my garage.

Don't have a garage...keep everything in my bedroom...still rusts. Even had a stainless steel putter rust on me out here.

did 3-in-1 oil ever hurt to stop rust?

I was just thinking this weekend I could use a nice 64p pinion set along with harden steel bulkheads for my Xray. Aluminum just seems to cost more in the long run. It bends, breaks, wears, streches alot faster than steel. I used to have all aluminum screws in my cars, now I'm all stainless or alloy. I've only reached for a dremel once in the last year and it wasn't my car with the stipped screw.

Where can we (Americans ;) ) buy the steel 64 pitch pinions you posted about? Can we get them through SchumacherUSA? Or do we need to order from abroad? Thanks!

Well besides the fact that I never remember to oil them...gotta remember to clean off the oil before using them or they will attract dirt.

BTW, diameter 108 64p spur and 81 48p is the same, am i right?

I just bought a full set of the RW gears from here in the USA. It is an oval shop but they have them., i was there last week and they had a bunch..
