NiMH Battery questions

I recently got back into the hobby and my old Nicads are dying, so I've started shopping for NiMH batteries.

First, where do you guys buy your cells? I've been shopping around, but the prices vary a lot, so wanted some input on where to shop.

These are for Slash's so I'll be making stick pack out of them, so using a balancer tray is out.

What is the best way to maintain these in a stick pack form? I've seen dischargers, but they only discharge at 1 amp.

Do NiMH suffer from the 'memory' issues that the NiCads had?

I used to use a 30amp bulb set with cut off, is that still a good solution for stick packs?
Or can I just run the pack until it's almost dead and recharge after cooling?

Thanks for any help

In short, nimh like to be kept charged, unlike nicad. Once you are done racing for the day, charge each set up for about 15 minutes and then discharge again before a recharge next time you race.

Inline cell configuration is best if your car accepts them, the simple reason being is they can then be discharged on a discharge tray and all 6 cells can be pulled down to 0.9v before recharging.

If you have to run stick packs, the bulb set will be OK until you can get something better, but dont leave the cells discharged.

Not in the usa so cant really advise on where to get cells from

Also, it depends how serious you are going to be about racing/bashing.

for club racing or bashing, a few sets of GP3700 will get you by and they are a very rugged cell, although ideally for racing look for some 4200. they will give your motor a bit more kick and will last a bit longer than the 37's.

Make sure you have a good peak charger too.
