Default Team Orion Platinum 2 LiPo - 500+ cycles? Didn't it used to be 1000?

I thought Orion used to quote 1000 cycles for the original Platinum LiPo, although I struggled to find this anywhere, they now say 500+ for the Platinum 2? Hopefully life hasn't been sacrificed for performance? Any experts know why? or can Orion answer?

My guess would be it's got something to do with the fact that you can safely charge the new Orion packs at 2C, so the higher charge rate shortens charge time but gives no extra performance and also shortens the packs life.
